2023 SPRING CONFERENCE

Join us next Tuesday for action planning

To kick off the planning effort of our 2023 Spring Conference, the Midwest Chapter Board will use its July board meeting to hold a virtual Conference Action Planning Meeting. This action planning session is planned for Tuesday, July 12 from 11 am to 1 pm CT, and it is open to anyone interested in serving on the Conference Committee (or Sub-Committees).

Please consider joining us to discuss all things conference, such as venue, food, theme, programming, communications, and networking. While we anticipate the conference returning to to Minnesota's Twin Cities area in late April or early May 2023, please know you do not need to be located in Minnesota to have a meaningful role on the Conference Committee (or Sub-Committees).

If you can't make this meeting but have interested in being involved, please let us know. We will also follow up after the action planning to share specific opportunities for involvement.

The 2022 Spring Conference, themed Breaking Down Walls: Meeting the Challenge of Inclusion in Public Participation, was held May 4-6, 2022 at the Eagan Community Center in Eagan, MN. Visit the conference website for more information.

Join a Committee
Joining a Midwest Chapter Committee is a great way to meet other P2 practitioners in our chapter's geographic footprint, as well as a powerful way to build your own skills and expertise. The Chapter currently has three committees:

Communications: helps keep members informed of chapter happenings
Membership: helps provide a meaningful IAP2 membership
Conference: helps plan the chapter's annual spring conference

Serve on the Board of Directors
Each fall, the Midwest Chapter holds an election for three of its nine seats. Board terms are three years in length, and individuals are limited to a maximum of three consecutive terms. A call for self-nominations to the board will be issued in October, for terms beginning in January 2023. If board service is of interest to you, consider joining an upcoming board meeting to learn more about chapter operations.

Bring an IAP2 Training to Your Area
IAP2 training is a great way to connect with others working in and around public participation. If you or your organization are interested in helping host an IAP2 training, let us know. We can help.
