On June 20th, NH DHHS released a HAN announcing that the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices unanimously voted to recommend COVID-19 vaccination for infants and young children using either the Moderna (for persons 6 months through 5 years of age) or the Pfizer-BioNTech (for persons 6 months through 4 years of age) COVID-19 vaccines.
On June 6th, NH DHHS released its second HAN regarding the Monkeypox outbreak, when Monkeypox testing should be considered, and additional resources for health care patients and providers.
On May 20th, NH DHHS released its first HAN regarding Monkeypox with clinical recommendations.

Office of Congressman Chris Pappas - Baby Formula Shortage Resources
|
The Office of Congressman Chris Pappas has shared the resources below for parents looking for the most up-to-date public health guidance on baby formula, including specialty formula. Please share these resources with your staff and community members.
In New Hampshire, the State WIC Program has approximately 70 formulas that can be issued, which has significantly increased available options. Here is the current formulary, updated June 15, 2022, and instructions for converting from metric to ounces.
If anyone has any questions they should contact their local WIC agency. Nutrition staff will assist families who have questions, need to have their formula changed on their e-WIC card, or need help on preparation of international formulas.
It is important that providers write down all the brands when requesting special formula, including store brands, on the formula line. This way nutrition staff can work with the family to change the assigned food package over the phone based on availability in the store. This can be done even while the participant is shopping if necessary.

The Partnership for Public Health, Inc. has officially launched WellnessLink! PPH is one of New Hampshire’s 13 regional public health networks and has partnered with UNH’s Center on Aging and Community Living and NH Department of Health and Human Services to deliver a one-stop resource for COVID-19 related concerns for older people. Older people in New Hampshire can protect their health by calling 866-452-1693. They will receive, at no-cost-to-them, easy to understand, accurate coordination and information for COVID-19 testing, vaccination and follow-up care. Please share the WellnessLink “Protect Your Health” flyer in your networks.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court released the anticipated decision that overturns Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. The decision is similar to the leaked draft, but includes the dissent and a response to the dissent. Some early reporting can be found on CNN and The Washington Post (Scotusblog has a brief article and will post their detailed analysis later today or tomorrow). Bi-State released the following statement on the decision:
The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe Vs. Wade will have a profound negative impact on a person’s ability to protect their mental and physical wellbeing. Every person should have the right to control their own health care decisions. As a health care organization, we strongly believe individuals should be able to access all the services they need – including reproductive services. We are disheartened to learn of the recent Supreme Court decision that restricts those rights.

The Office of Climate Change and Health Equity and the Department of Health and Human Services have released the first edition of Climate and Health Outlook. The May 2022 edition discusses Extreme Heat.

FTCA Deeming Applications Due July 8
|
FTCA deeming applications for CY2023 are due 7/8/22 at 11:59 pm. If you do not create and submit an FTCA application by this deadline, you will have to reapply as an initial applicant and may be subject to a site visit prior to obtaining deeming approval for CY 2023. HRSA has shared the following resources to support this process (including the attached Credentialing and Privileging List Quick Reference Guide:

The Fenway has a Monkeypox Information landing page on their website to ensure accurate information for the LGBTQI community. COVID-19 Vaccine Available for Children Under 5
|
|
On Saturday, June 18, CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended the use of COVID-19 vaccine for patients ages 6 months-4 years (Pfizer-BioNTech) and ages 6 months-5 years (Moderna). See the CDC statement. These recommendations are in line with Authorizations of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for this age group. We encourage you to make these vaccines available to children under 5 as soon as possible.

Emergencies Happen: What Health Centers Need To Know
|

As of this month, both hurricane and wildfire season have begun. But we know that emergencies can impact health centers at any time. Health centers and Primary Care Associations play an important role before, during, and after emergency events. During emergencies, PCAs gather critical health center information and report the status of service delivery sites to HRSA. For health centers in impacted areas, we ask that you report site-level status to your PCA as soon as you are able. If you have questions about program requirements or scope of project, please use the BPHC Contact Form. Visit HRSA’s Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Resources for Health Centers webpage for information about change in scope for temporary sites, 340B program enrollment under emergency declarations, and FTCA coverage during emergencies.
