Hi everyone

I’ve had quite a slow week workwise as I’ve been watching lots of the Wimbledon tennis championships and had a day out for my birthday.

We headed along the coast to Lyme Regis, in search of the new statue of fossilist Mary Anning. We took lots of pictures and some video in between all the schoolchildren crowding around her!

You can read about Mary Anning on my blog.

Best wishes

Rachel
New blog post:
A Regency History guide to the British Army in 1815
I’m not an expert on military history. I don’t have a head for battle scenes and prefer to avoid the unpleasantness associated with war. But the army was such an important part of life that a Regency romance author can’t afford to ignore it completely.

My husband has already written some posts for my blog on various battles, such as Waterloo and the War of 1812. This post goes back to basics for novices like me and looks at the roles and ranks of the army.

What questions do you have about the army and military life in the Regency?

Introducing Edwina Kiernan
Let me introduce you to the third author in the Hearts of the Hall novella series, Edwina Kiernan. I first got to know Edwina when she came to me for some help with the historical accuracy of her award-winning Christian Regency romance, Ruby’s Redemption. As part of the historical editing process, we chatted online, and I got to hear her beautiful Irish accent.

I invited her to join Philippa and me for our author chat, and we’ve been meeting regularly over Zoom ever since. As our author names all begin with the letter ‘K’, we named ourselves the K team!

I’ve never met Edwina in person (she lives in Northern Ireland) but we have become good friends over Zoom. She has been such an encouragement to me, spurring me on in my writing when I’ve felt disheartened. Despite battling with chronic illness, she has an incredible work ethic, and published her first three books in a single year.

She is now shifting her focus from Regency to Victorian—the period she loves best—and has written the Victorian instalment of our Hearts of the Hall series, Restoring Miss Hastings.

Sign up to Edwina’s mailing list to follow her progress with her novella and her other writing projects. You’ll also get the chance to enter the giveaways she regularly runs for her subscribers.

Beryl’s Blessing, the third book in Edwina’s Gems of Grace series, is on sale until 3 July.

She’s used to being alone. He can’t get away from his guilty conscience. Will an arranged marriage help them heal, or force them to confront a long-hidden truth and new depths of despair?

A compelling Christian historical romance from an award-winning author, with an uplifting theme of forgiveness and redemption.

The Merry Romances
A Single Obsession (book 3) is with my editor and I've started writing book 4, A Misguided Devotion, which is William’s story. It is set on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, near to Weymouth where I live, and is going to involve smugglers.
