Tree Farm Tour and Linn Chapter OSWA Annual Picnic
Join us for a tour of Aaron and Shawn White’s Hungry Hill Tree Farm. A severe ice storm January 2021 tore through their 30-year-old Douglas-fir plantations, and pockets of larger trees as well as large oaks in the adjoining meadows. Aaron, an accomplished logger, and OSU Extension Master Woodland Manager has been thinning and rehabilitating these damaged stands for the past year. The tour will emphasize the Whites’ efforts to recover from this extreme event.

The White’s Tree Farm is the beautiful setting for the annual summer potluck and picnic following the tour. Please bring your place settings and utensils along with a main dish or salad. Drinks and snacks will be provided by our chapter.

Date: Saturday July 9, 2022
Time: Tour 10:00 am with picnic to follow

Planning your Year on the Forest.
In this webinar Trout Mountain Forester, Matt Fehrenbacher will discuss how to plan the activities (harvests, treatments, other operations) that you might want to accomplish over the next year on your forest or woodland property. He will discuss how to base these on goals and objectives that you’ve defined in your management plan. We will help you think through implications for the next year, preferred timing of certain activities, integrating activities to save time and resources, and prioritizing what needs to happen this year and what can wait. We will conclude with small landowners and Master Woodland Managers Steve and Wylda Cafferata, who will give us an example from their very own property. We hope to see you there!
