Six Chief Parts

Issue 68

About two months ago I contacted a missionary. I’ve never met the guy, but I noticed he had a big family. Because he had children of all ages, I thought it would be fun to see if we could introduce the families from our family night to his family. After writing back and forth for a few days, we decided that our family night group would give his family a list of questions and, at their convenience, they would put a couple of little videos together, answering our questions.

I got the following email from him this past weekend. I am sharing it with you with the hope that you will pray for him. Also, I think it is a wonderful reminder of the hard and amazing work that is being done around the world. What a wonderful inspiration for us all! Enjoy!

Dear Pastor Wiist,

Warm greetings from Singapore, dear pastor!

It’s been some weeks since I was last in touch with you, and I didn’t want you to think I’d forgotten. I’ve been “on the road” the last five weeks, visiting missionaries and mission sites again now that travel has begun to open up again throughout most places in Asia. It’s been good to be on the ground again in places like Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India. Unfortunately, I was found to be Covid positive the day before I was to return to my family in Taiwan. So I’ve been “stuck” in limbo here in Singapore for the last week, hoping to test negative again and get back home. God grant that to happen this coming week.

All that to say why we haven’t sent any video answers to your dear saints in this time: Being separated has made it nearly impossible for me to get this project off the ground. However, my son Caleb has taken initiative to work with his mother and sisters in my absence and recorded a video of several questions from your list. The video is now being processed and edited before making it available to you and your congregation. I pray for your indulgence and patience a bit longer while this is completed. We hope to have a link for you in the next week or so, certainly by the end of June.

More to come soon. Please greet the saints for us. God grant you peace and joy as you prepare to give Christ’s gifts in Word and Sacrament yet again as they gather in the morning.

Yours very fraternally in Jesus,

Charles
