We also want to say a big thank you to Simon Gray, Tanya Dunne, Kath Dixon and Georgie Worley for all their work during their time on the committee.
While we are using this space to thank our previous committee, we want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Simon Gray. Simon was a co-founder of Proud Lilywhites back in 2014 and stepped back from the committee last year.
It goes without saying, Proud Lilywhites wouldn’t be half what it is without the work Simon and the rest of the team did years ago, and for that, we are truly thankful.
Before leaving, he sent us a message!
“When we started the group back in 2014 we had no real way of knowing what the future might hold and whether the game would change at all. Would the club, the fans and the industry accept us? I think on the whole the answer has been amazingly positive. Sure, there have been bumps along the way, but as the group and the wider movement has gained momentum, public perceptions has also evolved. There is now an out male professional footballer - some said it would never happen; well it has, and in some small way I am sure the visibility of supporters like us has played a part in letting Jake know that he will be accepted in the professional game.
“We also said that one of our main aims was to ‘put ourselves out of business’, and whilst I don’t think we can do that just yet, like all good businesses we’ve adapted and pivoted to make sure we’re lending our support to other groups like THST, SpursAbility and REACH whilst continuing to campaign on our core issues. Our continued championing of other amazing causes is what makes us very special amongst other Spurs fans.
“I’m so proud to have been part of the journey with you all, and I know the future committee will continue to do great work. I will still be around to lend an ear or to have a chat if you need me, and in any case - I’ll see you at the Centre Spot.”
