PLEASE HELP With TWO EMERGENCIES!

Two families who have been associated with JCIRA for years are experiencing extreme family emergencies that exceed the direct financial aid that JCIRA can offer.   So, we are reaching out to the community to help them via two separate GoFundMe appeals that have been set up.

Paris and her mom Carmen are two asylum seekers who have been sponsored by JCIRA in the past.  Paris lived in Port Townsend for 18 months and worked at the YMCA. They moved to Skagit County last summer for work, but we continue to support them as we are able.  This week, Carmen is starting months of treatment for cervical cancer.  While the hospital will provide some financial assistance, they face many bills and lost wages.  See the whole story and donate at https://gofund.me/1e8033f9

Rosa Escalera’s family and a second immigrant family just suffered a house fire in Chimacum that destroyed everything they owned.   Rosa has been a key figure in the local Hispanic community and is well known for her years of selling tacos at the Farmers Market. She was also one of the earliest supporters of JCIRA.  See the whole story and donate at https://gofund.me/ae96be27.

Please note that donations will go directly to the families, not through JCIRA, and are not tax-deductible.  For those who would like to help in some other way, please contact JCIRA at 360-232-6070 and leave a message for Jean.

Please share this message and the the GoFundMe appeals with your social media and friends.
