Dear friends and colleagues,
Welcome to EuroSEAS 2022 in Paris! The first of you are arriving and we are looking forward for all to reach Campus Condorcet safely. A few updates:

Force majeur
Unfortunately, we are receiving a few late cancellations due to Covid cases and/or visa problems. That is the reality we live in now. As a non-commercial, academic network we survive by the conference and membership fees. We cannot afford insurance for force majeur and all catering, equipment and personnel cost have been made. Therefore, we cannot afford a refund in case you are prevented from attending. We are, of course, sad not to be able to see all of you in person, and understand the requests for last minute online/hybrid participation. However, budget restrictions and technical limitations make it impossible for us to accommodate these requests. If you as a convener are able to improvise with laptop and Zoom that could be a way to keep your presenters on board.
Responsible conduct in times of Covid
As we are a conference in times of Covid, and the number of cases is rising all over Europe and the globe, we would like to remind you to check the formal regulations in your own country as well as in France before traveling.
More importantly, however, we would like to ask all participants to behave responsibly and to be considerate of all around you. We encourage all participants to get tested before the event, especially if you have a cold or other mild symptoms, please test yourself. Even if you get a negative result, and are therefore welcome to join the sessions, please still consider wearing a face mask until your symptoms have gone and refrain from shaking hands etc. Thank you.
Plenary sessions available online
We have found a way to make the plenary sessions (Opening, Keynotes, Book Prize Ceremony and General Assembly) available online at no extra cost. You will find the links to these sessions in the online programme at the website.
Shortlist EuroSEAS Humanities Book Prize and Social Science Book Prize 2022
EuroSEAS will award two book prizes at the 12th EuroSEAS Conference in Paris. Please find the shortlist for the EuroSEAS Humanities Book Prize and Social Science Book Prize here. The winners will receive the book prize certificate and € 750! During the hybrid EuroSEAS Book Prize award ceremony on Friday 1 July, 16.10 h, the winners will be announced. The link to the Zoom meeting will be shared in the online programme (see link above).
Reserve your seats for the concerts

Film screenings
The Auditorium 150 at “Centre de Colloques” building will hold movie screenings on June 29th, June 30th and July 1st. Each screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with members of the production team and EuroSEAS scholars. Read more!

Double art exhibition 'Thinking Art & Action'
Two exhibitions created in collaboration by researchers and artists will be presented during the time of the conference, in rooms 50 and 100 of the “Centre de Colloques” building (ground floor). Read more.

Keynote speakers
For this year's conference, we are very happy to welcome two major scholars of Southeast Asia for two keynote addresses putting their rich research experience in perspective: Bénédicte Brac de la Perrière (National Center of Scientific Research) and Duncan McCargo (Nordic Institute of Asian Studies / University of Copenhagen).
