KAMG Group Night

Thursday 30th June, 19:00 at the Kentagon, Brands Hatch

Catch up with old friends and make new ones

There will be a talk by Mark Jaffe from Footscray-based Phoenix Rider Training. If you would like to eat at the Kentagon on the evening, this month’s meal is scampi, chips and salad for £10.50 - please contact Tina Underwood or Simon Adamson as meals need to be pre-booked. Bar and refreshments are available. Non-member guests are of course welcome as always. Starts from 7.00pm.

The KAMG Welcome Table

Do you sometimes feel a bit of an ‘outsider’ at Group nights, especially if there’s no-one you recognise when you get there? Whether you're a newcomer or you’ve been a member for years, join Matt Pounds and Paul Chambers at the Welcome Table - at the back of the room with a red table cloth. Come and say hi and stay for a chat.

Preparing a motorcycle for a track day

You'll need to check your bike beyond POWDERS or you risk not making it through scrutineering or a mechanical failure cutting your day short. Click here for MCN's essential tips.

Filtering in Europe

Last month we looked at the art of filtering, or lane-splitting, through traffic. But if you're riding in Europe, laws can be different. Click here to learn more.

Coming soon... motorcycle safety parachutes?

Riders have had leather, body armour and airbags to protect themselves in the event of an 'off'. We could soon see safety parachutes for motorcyclists. Click here for more.

Electric bike grants

Despite the Government axing the Plug-In grant for electric cars, it is still available for electric scooters and motorcycles. Buyers can get a contribution of up to £500 towards the cost of an electric motorcycle. Click here for more details.

Group training run

Newlands Corner: Sunday 30th June

Meet at Leybourne 08:45. For Full Members and Associates. In groups of four riders with an Observer either leading or tail-ending. Ride led by Nev Smith. Book on KAMG Tracker.

Bespoke leathers

BKS Made To Measure Ltd (not BKS by J&S) have been making high-end bespoke leathers for decades. BikeSocial filmed an engrossing half-hour video about what drives them, their attention to detail and processes - grab a cup of tea and a Hob-Knob and watch here.

Machine Control Day

Saturday 30th July at Ebbsfleet International. Practice slow riding skills and machine control in a safe environment. Non-members, associates and full members are all welcome. Free to KAMG members, and we ask for a donation of £10 from non-members towards costs. Members can register on Tracker. Non-members, please email Paul Aspinall, on paul.ridekamg@gmail.com

KAMG IAM success

Congratulations to Terry Merry on successfully completing his IAM Roadsmart Advanced Rider training program, culminating in passing the Advanced (Green Badge) Test. Congratulations also to Terry's Observe, Andrew Barnes. Terry will be presented his Pass Certificate at the Group Night on Thursday 30th June.

BBQ tickets now available

BBQ tickets for our Group Night on Thursday 28th July are now available at £14.00 per head. Please contact Tina Underwood or Simon Adamson to book. Non-member guests are welcome.

Bikes and bits for sale!

Advertise your motorcycle, clothing and accessories on the KAMG web site. We're looking to build a ‘For Sale & Wanted’ page for KAMG members to advertise motorcycles, clothing and accessories for a voluntary donation to KAMG. As a guide, we would suggest around 10% of the selling price (less for high value items), but members may choose how much they can afford to donate. Email details of your stuff to niels@powdermillstudio.co.uk and we'll do the rest!

Mental health

Covid and lockdown has affected the nation's mental health greatly over the last year. Mental Health Motorbike exists to provide support and to grow the greater wellbeing of the motorbike community. MHM hope to be a full UK registered charity later this year. Read more here.

KAMG Hi-viz jackets

KAMG-badged hi-viz jackets have reflective strips, large side pockets as well as a clear breast pocket, phone and pen pockets, they are wonderful value at only £12.00, subsidised by KAMG. Click here to contact KAMG's regalia man Paul Ashwin to order.

KAMG needs YOU

We are always looking for fresh input. Currently we are particularly looking for help with Green Badge Holders and Observers to help plan and run KAMG social and training runs when they resume.

Please contact Tina Underwood or Joe Mair if you can help.

The editors of Riders magazine and e-News are always looking for 'stuff' to fill our pages. We want to hear about your days out, reviews, tips and motorcycle related activities so we can let others know. And if you are organising an activity and want it publicised, please email the KAMG web site and e-News editor: niels@powdermillstudio.co.uk
