Get Ready For Ride 'Round Rockland 2022!

Saturday July 23, 2022

Mark your calendars for Ride 'Round Rockland!  Beginning at The Kennedy Dells in New City. This year's event will feature many of the same roads you've come to know and love. We've even added a "Special Guest" - Bear Mountain!  RRR '22 will feature 3 routes: 25mi; 40mi & 65mi.

The 25-miler will take you through New City and Congers, around Rockland Lake & Lake deForest.  While not flat (what in Rockland is??) this route will be challenging enough so that you'll earn your lunch!

Our 40mi route includes the lakes but moves a bit further north into Stony Point and west to Pomona to grab some of the 'foothills' for which Rockland is famous (or infamous).

The 65mi ride will climb 5000+ft of elevation and the iconic climbs of Rockland including Bear Mtn. before turning south toward West Nyack and around the Lakes.

We'll have multiple rest stops with food, water and support as well as a catered lunch at the finish in The Kennedy Dells.

RBC Rides The

On June 5th, over a dozen RBC riders rode across Ulster County near New Paltz, NY in the 2022 Farm to Fork Fondo - Hudson Valley.  We were treated to 67mi of quiet roads with beautiful scenery and challenging hills.

Along the way, we stopped to sample locally produced items like sheep's milk yogurt parfaits, apple cider donuts, local maple syrup, farm made pizza and spiked cider.

After the ride, we all enjoyed an ice-cold wet towel, awesome BBQ and a few 'post ride recovery beverages' before heading back home.

This editor speaks for many when I say, "The best thing about the ride was that we did it together! We had a chance to ride, eat and gather as friends afterward to swap stories and moan about that last hill and tricky descent."

Rolling Reversal

By Paul Kadin

Riding bikes is a pleasure.  It can also be a job.  Years ago, my wife and I traveled all over Vietnam.  It was a phenomenal trip.   We got to see how much the transportation in cities was by bike.  It is a very practical way to get around, but hard work navigating motorized traffic.

One day while visiting the city of Hue I decided to see if I could give my bike taxi driver a break.  So, I asked him if I could pedal and whether he would like to ride.  We could not speak each other’s language, so I had to try to signal what I meant.

It took a while for him to get it because he could not believe what I was asking.  One he did, he jumped at the chance.   He lit up a cigarette and kicked back while I “drove”.  Of course, I still paid him for the ride.  It was a blast for me too.  Cycling brings people together all over the world.
