We Love The Bike Challenge
An appreciation post for Leagues making the city better
|
|
The Community League Bike Challenge is the sort of event that makes other cities jealous. Not only was this created by Leagues, for Leagues, but look at these results – tens of thousands of kilometres ridden by bike. Thanks to Ritchie Community League for not only posting the results but grinding out the kilometres in the saddle. Impressive.

Community League Day 2022 Toolkit
Build Edmonton – With Us: Graphics, tipsheets, tools
We’ve created a virtual toolkit that will allow Leagues to concentrate on their Community League Day events and let us worry about graphics, messaging, preparations and other questions.
Build Edmonton – With Us
The idea for Community League Day in 2022 is simple. While each League should hold a great event, what might happen for all Leagues if we all collectively share a visual look, similar messages and other bits to convey the bigger story – that there are 162 Leagues across Edmonton? We’re a community-building force. Let’s make that clear using #LetsBuildYEG.

Accessibility Presentation
Vital learning resource
On June 24 the City held a community accessibility workshop to talk about ensuring all public spaces are accessible. There were two members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee who spoke for the first half hour about their lived experience, which was very powerful. The workshop is about an hour long and has some great information. We encourage you to have a look.

Big Rental Opportunity
If your League hall and facilities fit the bill, here's a revenue generator
Free Play for Kids is looking for League halls to rent on weekdays to offer (paid) multi-sport children's programming from September 2022 to June 2023.
The group will pay standard hall rental rates to run sessions between 6:15 and 8:45pm once a week.
Free Play requires:
- the hall (which must be large enough to accommodate fitness activities inside for 20 children plus three adults)
- outdoor field and rink
- access to the hall washroom.
These paid community programs are separate additions to the free Start to Play program. Free Play for Kids will market the programs; Leagues need only to supply rental agreements.
If you're interested, be in touch with Free Play.

We respectfully acknowledge the land upon which the EFCL operates is located on Treaty 6 Territory and has served a purpose as a traditional meeting ground for many First Nations groups. This territory has provided a traveling route and home to the Nakoda Sioux, and later, Blackfoot and Cree peoples, followed by Saulteaux and Métis and other Indigenous peoples.
