Funding News
Branching Out Fund – Re-opens in July!
This Tree Council grant fund supports schools, community groups and Tree Warden Networks to plant trees, hedges and orchards. Grants can be between £200 and £2000. The projects must involve young people up to the age of 21. If you would like to be notified when the Fund re-opens in July 2022, for projects who want to plant from the start of tree planting season in 2022, until early Spring 2023, please sign up HERE ..
Laughology: The Happiness Fund
Funding grassroots, neighbourhood-based community projects throughout the UK. The Happiness Fund is available to enable and support projects which improve mental health and wellbeing, inclusion, learning and skills development in local communities. Ultimately it creates happier people and neighbourhoods - think Holly Willoughby meets Sponge Bob Square Pants. They will open again on the 1 July 2022.
Help the Homeless
Help The Homeless' main funding remit is the regular allocation of grants (generally up to £5,000) for capital costs to small and medium-sized registered charities only (those with a turnover of under £1m per annum). All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offer shelter or other forms of sustenance.
Paul Hamlyn Foundation:
The Foundation support a number of programmes around key strategic areas: Nurturing ideas and people, Arts access and participation, Education & learning through arts, and Investing in Young People. The following have a rolling application cycle – no deadlines.
- SHARED GROUND FUND - The Shared Ground Fund supports organisations to influence migration system reform, improve access to support services, strengthen civic participation and inform public understanding of migration and integration narratives. Grants from £30,000 – £400,000 for work lasting up to 4 years.
- YOUTH FUND - The Youth Fund supports organisations whose main purpose is working with and for young people (aged 14-25) who face complex transitions to adulthood. Core funding grants up to £150,000 over three years.
Matthew Good Foundation: Grants for Good Fund
Grants for Good invites local charities, voluntary groups or social enterprises that have an average annual income of less than £50,000 to apply to them for funding. Every three months, the Foundation will share £10,000 between 5 shortlisted projects that have a positive impact on communities, people or the environment.

The Henry Smith Charity - Holiday Grants for Children 2022
The Holiday Grants programme provides access to recreational trips or holidays for groups of children who experience disadvantage or who have disabilities. Please note they have removed some of the temporary changes they made last year to the types of trips they will fund, please read the funding guidelines carefully to make sure your trip is eligible. Grant size: £500-£2,500.
Application deadline 30 June 2022.
Community Foundation for Northern Ireland: Natural and Cultural Heritage Fund – Cushendun
This funding is for a renewed coastal village project, funded by the UK Prosperity Fund. The project aims to work with the people, businesses and community/voluntary groups using Cushendun to renew the economic heartbeat of the village, fulfilling the hopes and ambitions expressed by local people through successive Village plans over ten years. Only projects which take place within the Glendun District Electoral area, are eligible to apply.
Application deadline 1pm, 1 July 2022.
National Churches Trust: Cornerstone Grants
The Cornerstone Grant Programme offers their largest grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 towards the cost of major urgent structural repair projects costed at more than £100,000 including VAT. Grants of £40,000 to £50,000 are extremely limited and reserved for cases which demonstrate a very high case for investment. They will also consider projects that introduce kitchens and accessible toilets to enable increased community use, costed at more than £30,000 including VAT. Grants will never exceed 50% of the project cost.
Application deadline 4 July 2022.
Social Enterprise NI: Social Enterprise Awards
The annual Awards promote and showcase some of the best examples of social enterprise across Northern Ireland. Each year the Social Enterprise Awards attract a diverse range of applications from organisations tackling some of society’s biggest challenges. The awards recognise and celebrate the excellence in social enterprise and the outstanding achievements using trade to deliver social impact.
Submit your nominations to the 15 award categories by midnight 8 July 2022.
