We are writing to you today to share that Gretchen Flatau will retire as Chariot Executive Director in the fall of 2022.  

From Gretchen:
"This has been a difficult decision for me because I truly care about Chariot's mission. I grew up in an extended family with my grandmother and great-grandmother living close by and neither ever drove. We lived in a city with not much of a bus system, so transportation was always complicated. In her late 70s, my grandmother had to relocate from the city lived in her entire life because of transportation issues. Thus, what Chariot does really matters to me!

Deciding to leave Chariot at this time was not a decision I took lightly, but I know I am leaving the organization in good hands, with a focused, well-trained, and caring staff. The infrastructure for the organization to prosper is in place. The Board of Directors is committed and doing its best to help the organization succeed. I have had a long career and am ready to pursue other interests and life choices. I am working with the Board of Directors Transition Team to make sure everything is ready for the next leader. Thank you for letting me be a part of this place and I hope you will continue to support it!"

From Shannon: 
"Gretchen has been instrumental in improving Chariot during her tenure. Most significantly, she put in place important structural changes to transition the Board of Directors from operational to strategic. We are grateful for the leadership she has provided and appreciate that she has agreed to remain with Chariot until a new Executive Director is identified.

The Chariot Board of Directors has formed a Transition Team to assist with the selection of the next Executive Director. The position will be posted widely. Our staff is committed to supporting the mission of Chariot and will ensure our service levels remain high during this leadership transition.
