The College's COVID-19 NewsBrief provides timely curated COVID information and helpful resources for use in your practice and with your patients.

COVID vaccines for children

The CDC has recommended Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for infants, children and adolescents ages 6 months – 17 years . Both the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are now recommended for infants, children and adolescents ages 6 months – 17 years.
Children ages 6 months – 5 years with Medicaid and the Children’s National Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage are eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations without cost-sharing.
The College has updated its COVID Vaccine Comparison Chart to include newly-approved vaccines for children. Please note, you may need to clear your cache and cookies in order to view the updated version. The chart can be found on the College’s COVID-19 resource page.

FDA advisors recommend modified boosters

The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee recommended updated COVID booster shots containing components that target the Omicron variant. The FDA will make the decision on the specific formulation of the boosters. The FDA’s decision could be made this summer, in time for Moderna and Pfizer to develop vaccines for use this fall.

New process for providers who returned PRF payments before late reporting was announced

Providers who did not submit a Provider Relief Fund Reporting Period 1 report by the deadline, and returned funds prior to HRSA announcing late reporting options, now have a one-time opportunity to have their PRF payment reissued.
