Total Seed Production 3rd Quarter Video Newsletter - 2022
What's New at TSP?
With the growing season well underway, we are moving right along with our crops. Our soybeans are developing nicely and we continue to nurture and monitor their development every day. Our corn crop is also progressing nicely. We are making passes on them daily and we are moving into our pollination season. Whether is RHS fields or our traditional detasseling acres, we have begun the processes necessary to manage to hybridization of our seed corn. It's an all-in effort that our team is tackling in great stride.

As our farm teams continue to work in the fields our teams back at the facility have been hard at work to make sure every moving piece is running smoothly. Our Shop Team has been working hard to make sure our equipment is prepared and fully ready for the detasseling season. This includes doing the necessary maintenance on our cutters, pullers, and sprayers. This is also the time of year when they begin to shift their sights to harvest and begin to get our harvesters in order before the fall.

Our Maintenance Team has also been hard at work making sure we have everything in line for this fall and aiding in every area to make sure our day-to-day processes can run smoothly. With their big project of replacing the husking bed rolls wrapped up, they have begun to upgrade another portion of our process with a new gearbox for a portion of our conveyor system.

Finally, our Warehouse Team has taken up their summer project of box returns. all summer they have received and will continue to receive thousands of seedboxes that they must inventory, wash, collapse and store for this winter's shipping season. It's a tall task that our Warehouse Team has down pat!

New Hire: Greg Baird!

Tipton, IN- In March of this year, we welcomed Greg Baird as our new Soybean Production Coordinator. In his role, Greg focuses on the administration of seed stock fulfillment, planting progress, and variety to field quantities. He also assists in monitoring soybean growth throughout the growing season including scouting and pre-harvest assessments.  Maintaining an accurate sample log and sampling standards throughout all phases of soybean production and packaging, administration of receiving, conditioning, and packaging of soybeans from harvest through shipping are also top priorities for Greg.

Greg came to us with his Bachelor of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan and a focus in Agronomy and Animal Science at Purdue University. Greg has a background in corn and soybean production and seed sales. All of this has given him the tools he needs to quickly become an asset in his role at TSP.

When asked about what drew him to Total Seed, Greg says that he was drawn to our growth as a company and our focus on involvement and stewardship in our community. He has enjoyed his begins here at TSP saying, “Everyone has been very helpful and welcoming. We are hands-on with our production and there is a great amount of control that we have in our production acres.”

We are glad that Greg has had a good start here and we look forward to seeing all that he will do for years to come!
New Hire: Amanda Parker!

Tipton, IN- In March of this year, we welcomed Amanda Parker as our new Accounting Specialist. In her role, Amanda handles all of our accounting needs, manages our invoices, handles our accounts, does grow out results for our customers, manages our expenses, and handles our company taxes.

Amanda came to us from a position in Nonprofit Accounting of nearly 10 years. She holds her Associate’s Degree in Accounting and her Associate's Degree in Business Administration. All of her knowledge and experiences have quickly led to her finding her place here at Total Seed. When she is not at work, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her family and their heard of pups. Together, they enjoy kayaking, fishing, shooting, and, of course, playing with the dogs.

When asked about what drew her to Total Seed, Amanda says “At first, I applied just looking for a position closer to home that would keep me busy and a place that would challenge me. After applying and reading more about what TSP had to offer and what their company was about, I felt that I could be a great asset to them. I had been looking for my place within a company since leaving the YMCA after 7 years and wanted something that would expand my knowledge and challenge me.” She has enjoyed her start here at TSP saying, “. I have felt welcome since day one and feel that if I have any problems or need something explained a little more to me, Aaron and Ryan will both take their time to do so. That to me shows that they care not only about TSP but that I am trained correctly.”

We are very excited to have Amanda on board and we look forward to many years to come with her.
