Message from Kol Haskalah

Dear Kol Haskalah community,

As announced, the congregation's annual meeting was held. Thank you to those who were able to attend!

We had a range of interest from those in attendance for programs such as the High Holidays, Chavurah, B'Nai Mitzvah program, and Sunday School. There was interest in other holiday celebrations as well.

As discussed, in the email accompanying the Notice of the meeting, we need more support from the community in order to continue. Due to my need to isolate, we need to find a seventh board member and a Sunday School Advisory Committee. Without that additional capacity we would need to find a new President.

Kol Haskalah has always been a 'Do It Yourself' congregation and there is joy and community building in volunteering. It's a way to get to know like-minded individuals.

If we do not get a response from the community, then the Board will take action at its next meeting on July 10, to start the process of dissolving Kol Haskalah. It saddens me to contemplate this. Please, please, please dig deep and think about what you can do to keep Kol Haskalah going.

The Board does not think that hiring anyone is the best solution but if you had a part-time Executive Director candidate in mind, with the skills to turn us around, we would be interested in hearing from you!

All ideas are welcome. Please let me know by July 9 by emailing khaskalah@gmail.com.

Thank you,
Cathy Moore, Kol Haskalah President

Message from Sunday School

This small yet mighty group of families met safely throughout the 2021-22 school year to engage in Humanistic Jewish education. Thank you to the families who hosted and volunteered, and a special thank you to Andrea Lutri for directing this program through very challenging circumstances.

Programs like the Sunday School are beloved by our community. In order for this program to continue, please take action as mentioned in the community message above.
