C9/JRLC Fall Welcome

Join us this Friday, September 30th from 5:30-7:30pm on the Social Sciences Lawn (the area between Social Sciences 1 & 2) to celebrate the beginning of a new school year!

We'll have ice cream (while supplies last) and a performance at 6:30pm by Danza Azteca from the White Hawk Indian Council.
TFC Grand Opening

Did you know C9/JRLC has a student-led cafe that serves as a food pantry, study space, and hosts events?

Join Terry Freitas Cafe for its grand opening on Friday, September 30th from 7-9pm to make bracelets and friends!

Beginning Monday, October 3rd, TFC will be open weekdays from 10am-7pm.

ICW is a free overnight retreat hosted by College Nine and John R. Lewis College for students to bond with their community and engage in activities to develop intercultural sensitivity and awareness.

This year's retreat will take place November 19th-20th, at Happy Valley Conference Center in Santa Cruz.

Interested in taking action? Want to amplify your voice? If so, College Nine Senate is the place for you!

Senators meet weekly to discuss issues and ideas affecting C9 students, sending representation to campus-wide and UC organizations, while also allocating funds to many organizations and programs.

Perks include: growing as a leader, building your resume, earning voting power on decisions directly affecting you, and much more!

Join the MINT Program!

The MINT (Mentoring, Influencing, Networking, Triumphing) Program is aimed at supporting undergraduates considering grad school, by pairing them up with a graduate student mentor in their field and creating opportunities to engage in workshops and community get-togethers.


Applications to be a mentor or mentee are due Friday, September 30th at 11:59pm.
Teach CRES 45: Pilipinx Historical Dialogue!
Pilipinx Historical Dialogue (PHD) is a political education course centering Pilipino history, culture, and politics led by student leaders from UCSC Bayanihan. 

Interns and co-coordinators are eligible to receive 2 or 5 units per quarter (for two quarters) through an independent study course offered by CRES.

Trans Queer Fall Mixer

Join the Lionel Cantú Queer Center for their annual Trans Queer Fall Mixer on Thursday, September 29th from 4-6pm at the Merrill Cultural Center! This mixer will feature a resource fair, photo booth, raffle prizes, refreshments, and an opportunity to connect with the queer and trans community at UCSC.

Welcome Black BBQ
from the UCSC African American Resource and Cultural Center

Join the African American Resource and Cultural Center (AARCC) on Friday, September 30th from 2-5pm at the Oakes Lower Lawn for a BBQ! This will be a space for the ABC community at UCSC (students, staff, and faculty) to celebrate the start of the school year and form new connections over music, food, games, raffles, and more!
QTBIPOC Orientation
from the UCSC Lionel Cantú Queer Center

New students are invited to the 2nd annual QTBIPOC Orientation on Thursday, October 6th from 3-7:30pm at the Womxn's Center!
This yearly event is meant to support new Frosh and Transfer students who identify as both BIPOC and part of the LGBTQIA+ community, by focusing on identifying and relieving the frustration of being ostracized from an enriching campus experience because of sexuality, race, finances, and disabilities.

SHOP is open for in-person support weekdays from 8:30am-12pm and 1-5pm or virtually!

All students are welcome (regardless of insurance) and all of our support services are free and anonymous.

Available services and support include the Condom Co-Op, Birth Control Patrol, HIV Testing, STI Testing Kits, and more!
Textbook Access Program

The Textbook Lending Library has partnered with Akademos, an online bookstore and course materials platform, to provide vouchers to students so that they can purchase their own course materials! 

Returning students can sign up here, while new/incoming students can sign up here.
