Indiana University Summer Theatre presents "The 39 Steps"

Directed by Jenny McKnight. Performances run July 2 - 30 in the Wells-Metz Theatre. Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by definitely not 150 people), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned intrigue! DANCE IN THE PARK July 9th
Come dance in the park with Windfall!

We invite all ages and abilities to develop creative movement at local Bloomington parks. This series will be at no cost to attendees.

Crestmont Park Shelter - July 9th 11- 12 pm
Bryan Park Henderson Shelter - July 9th 2 - 3pm

Details:
All ages, all abilities workshop. Participants will be guided through development of movement phrases based on inspiration from the park. These phrases will be put together to form short dances. The inspiration will be from movement observed, shapes of branches, sounds, etc., noticed during a brief walk. Members of the Windfall Dance Company will be assisting the participants.

Cicada Cinema Upcoming Event!
Bloomington debut Cicada Kids brings you a charming early-career classic from animation legends Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki before they went on to co-found the legendary Studio Ghibli.

Synopsis: Mimiko is a cheerful, young girl who is left on her own while her grandmother is away. When little Panny Panda and his father Papanda stumble into her home, Mimiko welcomes them in as her new family. Adventures ensue as Mimiko discovers the challenges of taking care of her new cuddly friends.

First known as Panda Kopanda (translation: Panda, Baby Panda), it initially premiered in Japan at the height of the panda craze in September 1972. Cicada Cinema is excited to celebrate this release and restoration from Gkids with a Saturday morning 50th anniversary screening free to little ones and their families, as well as the entire Bloomington public!

Cicada Kids film series strives to maintain Cicada Cinema’s mission statement of bringing underseen and underrepresented cinema to Bloomington, IN but with an eye towards films that children and their loved ones can enjoy together. Fun for all families!

Indiana University Summer Theatre presents "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Directed and Choreographed by DJ Gray with Musical Direction by Ray Fellman. Performances run July 2 - 31 in the Wells-Metz Theatre. In this dazzling irresistible musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice reimagine the trials and triumphs of young dreamer Joseph and the coat of many colors. Calling all photographers of any level to join us for the first of a monthly series at FAR! In a facilitated discussion led by photographer Chaz Mottinger, learn how to talk about your own photography, critique work, and build community.

What to Expect:
For now, we will meet virtually every third Wednesday on Zoom. After introductions, photos will be viewed on a screen-share with discussion and critique to follow. Participants are encouraged to send work via email to chaz@thefar.org with the heading "FAR Photo Review work".

About the Instructor:
Chaz Mottinger is a professional photographer at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts, where she uses photography to tell FAR’s story through social media and marketing. Her other work includes marketing and event photography for Indiana University, Limestone Post, and more.

IU Outdoor Summer Concert: The Blues
Sadie Johnson
July 8th 7-9pm

Shake up the summer with the blues, performed live by singer, songwriter, guitarist and performer Sadie Johnson. Johnson, the fourth artist in the 2022 IU Summer Concert Series, will be performing from 7-9 p.m. on July 8th on the IMU Centennial Patio. She is known for her energetic and captivating style on both original and known songs. Hear her powerful vocals live, the event is free and open to the public.
