West Central Cafe in Redhill is mainly volunteer-run and offers a range of different volunteering opportunities, including Front of House volunteers. It is owned by Christ Central, and was opened as a means for the church to reach the local community in Redhill. As well as the cafe, there is a community choir, neonatal parent support, and the venue is also available to hire.

🎵 Include.org runs choirs that promote inclusion for people with communication or learning difficulties. Their Redhill choir needs Choir Assistants to assist at choir sessions on Wednesday evenings. They have also recently launched a Tadworth choir on Tuesday nights and need both a Lead Support Volunteer and Support Volunteers to help run sessions.
🏢 Watercolour Community Space is in the new Carrington Place development on the Watercolour Estate. It is looking for a Treasurer to support the organisation. Meetings will usually be held monthly for a maximum of 90 minutes.
💻 If you are IT savvy and can spare 2-3 hours each week, then help older and disabled people get online with Surrey Coalition of Disabled People as a Volunteer Tech Angel.
🚨 Surrey Appropriate Adult Service (SAAVS) is looking for Volunteer Appropriate Adults to help young people and vulnerable adults who are in a custody centre. Many of the individuals you meet may have mental health issues. You will be asked to commit to one six hour slot each week, and one weekend slot per month. Ideally, you would be able to cover two police stations in Surrey (Salfords, Guildford and/or Staines). Full training will be given.
👨🍳 Reigate & Banstead Borough Council needs Community Centre Volunteers for its community centres in Banstead, Horley and Woodhatch. This is a flexible role: share your passion with a group of residents, or help around the centres on the reception desks or at the snack bar.
🧸 Happy Baby Community supports asylum-seeking and refugee women who have fled violence or traffickers and are pregnant or with a child. They need women Practical Support Volunteers for their twice-weekly group in Redhill on Monday and Wednesday afternoons to help run the group.
🗣️ If you have an ESOL/teaching qualification, could you put your experience to good use and help displaced young people aged 16-21 years who might be struggling with loneliness, anxiety and boredom? Small charity Big Leaf Foundation provides emotional and practical support, with ESOL volunteers who offer young people one-to-one lessons. Sessions are online for 1-2 hours a week, with a six-month commitment.
🔨 Are you diy-handy or have some construction or engineering skills like our volunteer Keith? Surrey Remap is looking for Volunteer Engineers with good DIY skills and a home workshop to design and make custom equipment for disabled people.
☕ The Brigitte Trust supports people and their families and carers who have life-limiting conditions. It is looking for a Trustee, ideally with experience of, or an interest in, media and marketing. Board meetings are roughly every six weeks and currently mostly on Zoom, and attendance at occasional events is encouraged.
🌳 Downlands Partnership is looking for Conservation Volunteers in areas such as Banstead, Caterham, Chipstead and Hooley. You can join in on any of the local dates that you fancy, for a full (10-4) or half day (10-1). Larger corporate, community and school groups by special arrangement.
👪 Barnardo's is looking for Family Befrienders for their Parent Wellbeing Service for parents of children and young people across Surrey who are experiencing poor wellbeing - from loneliness to low mood or anxiety. The service supports parents who may also experience anxiety and worries when their child has poor wellbeing. Volunteers offer peer-to-peer support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, either face-to-face or virtually.

If you’re a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a voluntary sector employee or volunteer, Charity So Straight have a Slack network you can sign up to, a safe space where people can come together to share experiences including homophobia, biphobia and transphobia as well as share good news stories about great places to work and volunteer, and inclusive practices.
