Black educators in (white) settings: Making racial identity visible in Early Childhood Education and Care in England, UK

This paper examines the lived experiences of Black educators and the role of their racial identity on their practice in UK child care settings. Results suggest the need for anti-bias and anti-racist policies to support educators to celebrate racial identities, beyond tokenism and performative allyship. The author suggests a need to move towards a more critical understanding of the impact and influence that racialized educators can have in addressing experiences of racism in child care settings. .
