Oh, hi friends!

Are you doing something the same way because that’s how you’ve always done it?

I’ve been thinking about this lately — how some habits and routines can serve us, and others can keep us in the same place.

(Right now, I’m thinking about this in the context of this newsletter. I might switch to Substack because a) I’m paying $100 a month to send this email through Mailchimp and b) It’s a cleaner interface and would allow me to have comments on each post — and an archive! and c) I don’t want to do what I’ve always done. Hmm, ponders! This is a big change though after 1,000 issues; I can basically create this newsletter with my eyes closed. But is that a good thing? Don't I want my eyes to be...open?)

Anyway, maybe you feel this way, too?

Is there something you’ve been hamster wheeling that you’d actually like to change?

If so, can you start by seeking out new options? Read, research, engage, ask questions.

And then, maybe, jump.

“Regardless of what you are told or think you should be, never put yourself in a box, listen to your gut instincts and lean into the whispers, always go for the goosebumps, and strip everything down until you know you’ve got a great song or story. In short, move out of your way so that you can make way for what is to come naturally. I’ve abided by these rules since the beginning stages of my career, and I will continue to abide by them for as long as I live and create on this planet.

Getting into flow without giving your conscious mind a second to project inner judgements is the sweet spot, so even if a word or phrase doesn’t make sense in the moment, write it down! You are often your own biggest creative block, so stop monitoring yourself and let. It. Flow!”

Where Are All My Startup People?

Thought you or someone you know might find this job board helpful: Work at a Startup. It’s sort of a reverse LinkedIn — you fill out a profile and then Y Combinator startup companies browse you. (h/t Ravi Dehar)

I filled out a profile just for fun! One of the questions was “Describe a project that you worked on that you are proud of.” That actually got me thinking. It’s always good to reflect. You know?
