Hello <<First Name>>,

It's been a busy summer for all and soon Air Venture will be upon us!
There have been a few changes at both the airport and within our Officers and Board members.

Change in jetCenter Management

Deb Montgomery has taken the role of President at the Centennial jetCenter.  This is actually where she started.
Danny is taking over her role at the FNL jetCenter.  Danny started as a “Rampie" about 10 years and has worked his way up.  With her departure, that leaves her Board seat open. She is hoping that we consider Danny for the position.

Treasure Position

Sadly our treasurer has decided to step down so that position is now open and will need to be filled. Any takers?

Triennial Safety Exercise

It is time for the Triennual Full Scale Exercise. Here's a note from Gina.

Hi to our favorite pilots!

Just a reminder invitation to participate in our Triennial Full Scale Exercise!  We are requesting volunteers as victim actors for our 2022 Triennial Exercise and would truly appreciate your participation as our pilots!   Please note that we are limiting our invite to pilots and flight school students with airport access credentials only.

The date is September 20th, 7am-12pm with lunch provided.  In the case of a disaster or unforeseen situation, our backup date is Sept 27th.

RSVP to Gina as soon as you can to hold your spot!

Please do not call the office phone number. It is easier for her to keep track of everyone if they email her.

Private Air Force??

Then in my browsing of things I found this article about a man who owns the world's most advanced private air force when he purchased several 46 F/A-18 Hornets.

We sould like to have a short blurb about our members so that we can put names to the faces. Nothing huge, just a photo of you and or your plane and a bit about each. This will be in the newsletters only, not on our website as a blog. With that said, we, as your officers, would like to reintroduce ourselves to you.

Rosie the Riveter

An award fitting fitting for a wonderful woman

As many of you know, our very own JR McKinley has been recognized over the years for her incredible work with veterans organizations and was instrumental in the Collins foundation tours over the years.  What you may not know, however, is how deep her heart runs for the veterans of our country.
J.R. (Rosie) has been awarded with a statue for her service from the Veterans Honoring Veterans, a non-profit organization that recognizes Northern Colorado veterans.

Here's a short blurb about her recognition from the founder:

To whom it my concern’

I have watched Rosie the Riveter at Loveland Fort Collins Airport (Northern Colorado Regional Airport) during the Collings Foundation air shows for the several years prior to the accident on the east coast.

I watched her as she intermingled with the Vintage airplane enthusiasts that were there but mostly it was her and the World War II Veterans that were being honored at the air shows.   She was also noted for her shuttling WWII veterans and other visitors to and from their destinations in her golf cart.  I was told that JR was not only Rosie, but she had several behind the scenes jobs that were instrumental in the organization of the air shows.

The World War II veterans are very special people in our lives and what I saw Rosie the Riveter do with them insured me that they knew they were loved.  The kisses on the cheeks, numerous photos she has taken with these heroes was second to none.

I never personally knew who Rosie the Riveter really was until this year at the 2022 Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Plaza in Ft. Collins.  Again A-day of recognizing and honoring our World War II heroes both men and women.   There was Rosie the Riveter, going around visiting and kissing the veterans on the cheek and getting her picture taken.

I am the Founder of Veterans Honoring Veterans Inc. here in Loveland.  VHV is a non-profit organization that recognizes our Northern Colorado veterans by giving them a 12" statue of the branch of service they served in. This is a way of thanking them for their service to our Country.

We have only honored one other non-veteran since we started in 2018. Our board unanimously agreed that Jeneal 'JR' McKinley AKA Rosie the Riveter should be honored with a Statue for her Service and Commitment to our WWII Veterans and all the other lives that she has touched in the past 20 years as the loving and caring Rosie the Riveter.

If you see Rosie at the airport or our next events, please help us in extending a warm thanks for her efforts and congratulations on a well earned aware!

Airport Updates

Here's a fun traffic stat:
  • June averaged 318 flight operations a day - twelve-month daily average was 289

Remote Tower

The Remote Tower testing has completed Phase 1 and should be entering into Phase 2 soon.  Unfortunately, we don't have a known time frame for when this will begin.  More Info

Hangar Development

PDSC representatives have been directed by the Airport Commission to enter into negotiations with the jetCenter on Site A (The oldest front row hangars).  While I can't discuss the details of those negotiations, our goal remains to have minimal to no impact to existing tenants and provide true, viable options, for any impacted tenants if the lease moves forward at all.

Site C (Areas North of 6/24 runway) development needs are being assessed and a draft plan for the site is in process of being created with engineering and airport staff collaboration.  More can be read about this effort in the July 20 Packet.  In short, the airport understands that there are now no "shovel-ready" lots available at the airport.  An area north of 6/24 has been identified as the next GA expansion area.  Included in the Packet mentioned are two conceptual layouts for these lots.  Of interest is the placement of a public restroom, which should allow T-Hangars and smaller units to be built without the bathroom and potentially the water tap requirement.

Upcoming Commission Meeting

The next scheduled Airport Commission meeting is now scheduled for Aug 4, 2022.  The packet will be made available a few days prior to the meeting.  While I don't know what all will be on the agenda at this time, my guess is going to involve:
  • Terminal Funding
  • Airport Staffing
  • Training Center focused on Innovation, Technology and Aviation.
  • Updates on Capital Improvement Projects
