Hi Gorgeous,

When my eight-year-old was a toddler with baby teeth a little ponytail that sprouted from the top of her head like palm tree fronds, she earned the nickname "Banana Girl."

Every day when I picked her up from gym childcare, I'd give her a banana in the gym lobby. And every day, she devoured that banana like it was the best thing she'd ever eaten.

I know I'm biased, but I wasn't the only one who delighted in watching her eat that mid-morning snack. There was an older gentleman who was always in the lobby at the same time as us, and every day, he'd smile and ask, "How's my banana girl doing today?" If I ever rushed out the door without stashing a banana in my diaper bag, he would treat her to a banana from the cafe.

Shoving that banana in her face, the only thing that existed in my then-two-year-old's world were herself and her food. She wasn't worried about how many carbs the banana had, how hard she'd -played earlier, or how hard she was going to hit it at the park later that day. She was not concerned with the size of her thighs or her belly. She didn't look at her cankles like they were a problem to be solved.

She was just a girl, being present in her body, finding a ton of pleasure in eating a piece of fruit.

This, my friends, is intuitive eating. In a world that's telling us our bodies are something we can improve if only we would biohack our way to optimal health, I'm here to say, you already have access to the ultimate biohack: your felt sense of your body. We've been told to ignore it (I'm looking at you, every women's magazine that said to drink water when I felt hungry), but it can be one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal — if we tune into it.

Life is too short to waste time overthinking food, exercise, and the shape and size of your body. If you need support in figuring out how to listen to your own body's wisdom, just reply to this email and let me know. I offer 1:1 intuitive eating coaching (more details on that here.)
