Attention!! All Hands on Deck!!

Our School Library needs your help! We are getting a facelift! Our library is getting all new carpet and a new paint job!
We have got to move about 10,000 books and FAST!!
We will be loading books into boxes and moving any and all things movable out so the carpet folks can get to work ASAP!
We will begin moving furniture and some items Wednesday, July 20 beginning at 8:30 AM (morning) and July 21, 1 PM - 3 PM (afternoon).
Books will need to be packed into boxes in shelf order, labeled, and carted out on Monday and Tuesday of next week! That is July 25 and 26.
Anyone that can come lend a helping hand will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Food Pantry Now in Our Area
Golden Leaf Scholar Leadership Program (GLSLP)
A Little Food Pantry has been located outside our town library shortly. Many thanks to Ja"kasia Ferebee who recently contacted our community about a project her group is working on. This is her group's community action project for the Golden Leaf Scholar Leadership Program (GLSLP). One of the group members will install the box in the next two weeks. Many of these pantries are located in Washington and now we will have one in Aurora.

With the rising costs of food and gas, this food pantry may be instrumental in helping families fill in the gap. People are looking for ways to help during this challenging time and placing a few additional cans of food in their shopping cart and stocking a pantry is an easy way to positively impact the life of another person in the community. With the help of the community, we hope this pantry may serve those in need.

It's in need of some shelf stable foods to get it started and then if you need some food you get some and if you have some you leave it.

Adult Kitty Needs Rehoming
A year old female black and white kitty needs to be rehomed. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She is an inside kitty only. She loves cuddles once she warms up to you. If you are interested in this pretty girl or have more questions. please reach out to Anna McCollum, 252-474-5591.

Many thanks to the community who sent items in for the yard sale sponsored by Paws and Love. We had a great turnout! It was all for the kitties!!! This will allow us to continue Trapping. neutering and releasing community cats!

Aurora Night Out Coming Together! Great time for all!!

The Partnership for Aurora-Richland Township Progress is launching round two of our Hometown Heroes banner campaign for service members, veterans and first responders. There has been significant community interest in expanding, and we will be hanging them throughout downtown Aurora in time for Veterans Day. Deadline for orders is August 31st. Cost remains the same at $130 each, which includes the hardware necessary to hang them.

Aurora Fish and Farm Festival

Aurora Fish and Farm Festival is a two-day event to be held in Aurora North Carolina, October 22-23, 2022. This event is being held to celebrate the area's ties to agriculture and our waterfront. This event will feature activities for the entire family.

The Aurora Fish and Farm Festival Committee is currently recruiting vendors for our first annual Aurora Fish and Farm Festival to be held on October 22-23, 2022.
We are seeking the following vendors:
Food and Beverage
Arts/Crafts and or other relative Merchandise Vendors
Fishing or Farming Educational Information
Fishing or Farming Equipment for Display/Exhibit
Vendor Fees are as follows:
$30 fee for all Vendors selling Items
$35 fee for Political Entities
No fee for all Non-Profits/Educational Organizations

Job Opening MDC Rural Forward
Dear Partners –

The goal of the Program Assistant’s role is to strengthen their understanding of rural community-driven capacity-building services and develop additional skills by supporting MDC Rural Forward staff, community partners, and other constituents through planning, facilitation, drafting meeting summaries, community outreach and communications, policy research, and/or other administrative tasks (no more than 10%). For the fall and spring semesters, our expectation is 20 hours per week for at least four months. Rate: $17.00/hour + limited benefits.

Diversity is our strength – we encourage applications from people of color, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and members of other underrepresented groups in order to effectively achieve our mission.
