CALLING ALL OUR REGIONAL COORDINATORS AND POTENTIAL ONES
The Regional Coordinators met on 1 September with Joanne Searle, the South African RC and Global Coordination Lead. The meeting was well attended and very engaging and productive and positive.
We agreed we would like a regular meeting rhythm and plan at least a year in advance so that we can hold as many dates in our calendars going forward. We would like to accommodate all regions and time zones as much as possible and to this end, we ask you to reply to Joanne with the best days, and times and she will take these into consideration.
We have previously agreed to share relevant supervision experience events with each other in our regions to create opportunities for supervisors to offer a taster of supervision. In June and August, COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) invited AOCS Regional Coordinators to their events and it was lovely to have one of our Regional Coordinators come along.
The next AOCS Regional Coordinators meeting will be on 12th October at 11h00-12h00 BST. Dateful Timezone Converter.
We would like to encourage as many of you to please attend these meetings.
The focus of the sessions continues to give us an opportunity to get to know each other, build on previous discussions, and offer volunteer coordinators a further opportunity to clarify and evolve their roles with AOCS and to share their thoughts and experiences on how they are ‘promoting, engaging and developing’ supervision in their geographies. In addition, we plan to do some experiential work together.
We look forward to connecting again and ‘joining hands’ in this capacity.
Please contact Joanne to register your attendance.
UPDATE ON THE JOINT GLOBAL STATEMENT GROUP ON CLIMATE
We have an exciting update on the cross professional body Round Tables Series on Climate for all our members, which will be on a sequence of themes, with the signatory bodies partnering to facilitate the sessions.
AOCS is partnering with members of the AC and ProReal to bring a very special and participatory session, at a date TBC, probably in March.
The title will be: Biodiversity, Habitat & Ecosystems
How advances in technology might inform and support supervision conversations around climate and biodiversity coaching. What else is needed for working with climate change and biodiversity conversations?
We will invite you closer to the time to collaborate in these sessions to enable us all to engage with the responsibilities from the Joint Global Statement.
Thank you to AOCS who are moving the needle for us to grow towards a more inclusive association across the globe.
Hosted by Fenella Trevillion and Felicia Lauw the reflective circle is a place to work together to create a least judgemental space; a circle where participants feel at ease and grow through connection and exploration.
Going forward, we have chosen to move the D&I Reflective Circle to the second half of the month, once every two months. Our next reflective circle will therefore be held on Thursday 22nd September 2022 at 12pm BST / 7pm SGT. Duration 90mins. Dateful Timezone Converter.
We look forward to welcoming you. Zoom Details:

RACE EQUITY CHARTER SHOULD BE 'LIVING DOCUMENT'.
A charter for race equity in coaching jointly agreed upon by professional coaching, coaching supervision and coaching psychology bodies is one step closer.
Representatives from professional coaching and coaching psychology bodies met at the fifth Towards Race Equity in Coaching roundtable, launched and hosted by Coaching at Work. They shared progress within their bodies and started to explore what a charter might look like. Its aims would include reaching out to groups currently excluded from coaching.
Of course, AOCS was in the room contributing to the conversation from the perspective of Coaching Supervision. Coaching at work continues to be a source of strong articles on this important theme.
Keep an eye on the AOCS column in this great magazine, for an upcoming article by Felicia Lauw and Fenella Trevillion, who is joining the AOCS Diversity & Inclusion Leads.
To get the most from these sessions, it is strongly recommended that you prepare which technique you wish to use, as the Supervisor, IN ADVANCE of the session. You can find all of the techniques for each month here. Come and take the opportunity to practice existing or new approaches to coaching supervision in a great learning community. You will be able to book individual or multiple sessions depending on your planning preference.

MEMBERS' VOICE
A round up of member run events, articles and blogs.
The book is the result of many years of research that began in 2008 and brings a unique approach to describing the impact of culture in our lives. It describes how culture impacts our behaviour in subtle ways and how that behaviour is then transferred to the workplace - “a must-read for coaches working in multi-national corporations.”
