Oh, hi friends!

What if you led with what’s good right now?

Last night I went to a little networking event with some friends. It was the kind of event that feels frozen in amber from pre-Covid days.

Name tags! Strangers meeting strangers! Getting to know you and your projects!

And I was reminded of what always makes these occasions more worthwhile, more alive…

When you talk about what’s good right now.

It’s easy to go into what’s not working (I’ve got a list! you’ve got a list! we’ve all got our lists!).

But that’s not going to light you up. And, if anything, talking about it might make you feel worse.

(Everyone here is amazing and productive and I’m just the loser in the corner with nothing to share…)

So what’s good right now? I know something is.

Whether you’re in a networking event or just making chit-chat with someone in your office, go with the good. (Or, even better, find out what’s good with whoever you’re talking to.)

See what happens.

So You Want to Work in TV?

I spent an hour this weekend reading this site from John Wells Productions. (He’s the guy behind ER, The West Wing, Shameless, and many many more.)

The production company created a Showrunner’s Corner with a guide from John on how to run a set, how to get organized, how to communicate, delegate, and lead.

And there’s more! Including a writers’ assistant guide (that’s the one I read), detailed articles on how to read a call sheet, and an inside look at the step-by-step of the development process. Just a super helpful, granular look at how things actually happen. My favorite!

Yet another reminder there are so many resources out there if you want to learn!!! (Also, a reminder to share what you know.)

Sweet Young TV Development College Intern Kara would have killed for all this.
