Weekly Prayer Requests
  • Pray for campus ministers Will & Esther Chu serving at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in U.S. Central Region. Recently they finished InterVarsity Study Abroad Program and International Student Getaway Conference, and serving in the National Orientation for New Staff. They are now planning to host a regional conference in August for students, faculty, volunteers, and alumni. Please pray for their ministries.
  • Social Responsibility Pray for the political instability in Sri Lanka as protesters have recently stormed the president’s official residence and the prime minister’s office as the country is suffering its worst economic crisis in decades. The president has left the country and indicated a willingness to resign, but there is currently a political vacuum. We pray that God will put the right leadership in place and that they can steer the country from its economic and political troubles.

Due Honor: Perils of Honor (9)
Pastor Enoch Liao

Mark 6:1-6
English Standard Version

He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief.

And he went about among the villages teaching.
