Defenders of the Universe Unite!

Junior-Teen Camp got off to a snowy start on Tuesday last week, with parents being advised to bring their children up to Mt Hutt Retreat the following day instead due to heavy snows making the roads a bit dangerous. Half of the children ended up making it up on that first day though, thanks to skilled snow-driving parents! The other half joined them the following day, and Camp was officially underway.

The campers were joined by guest speaker Esera Timu, who was a huge hit with the kids. He spoke throughout the week in the evenings looking at how to be Defenders of the Universe and our need for the ultimate defender in Jesus in our lives as well as the importance of the Bible.

On Wednesday due to the blanket of snow at Mt Hutt, one of the activities was upgraded from sports on the court to sledding down the hill! Everyone had a blast making the most of the snow. Thursday saw a visit to Ashburton where the kids swam and played Frisbee Golf. On Friday, Clive from Pedalmania visited Mt Hutt and brought with him a truck full of strange and unusual bikes that he had engineered. The kids loved it and Clive said that it was the best group of kids he had encountered for a long time!

Sabbath dawned crisp and clear. Pr Jerry took a worship on 1 Samuel 7 and shared about the significance of the raising of an Ebenezer. All the campers then braved the freezing cold morning to head down to the river and raise their own Ebenezers as a memorial to what God was doing at JT Camp 2022. Once back in the warmth, Esera shared his penultimate message and then made an appeal, during which almost 40 campers committed their hearts to Jesus, asking for Bible studies or baptism.

Huge thanks to everyone who gave their time to make JT Camp amazing - God worked through you in a mighty way to create an event that will resound throughout eternity.

Do you have or know of an inspiring story related to literature ministry? Perhaps you've experienced a divine appointment and handed someone a book at just the right time. Or maybe someone knocked on your door and changed your life for the better.

Adventist Media is looking for inspiring true stories related to literature evangelism/ministry in the South Pacific Division. The most inspiring stories will be collated and printed in a book by the Literature Ministry Department, which we hope to have ready for Summit.

Our favourite story from Australia or New Zealand will win A$500!

A People's Choice Award will also win A$100.

Tony Wall is also offering an A$500 award for the best story from the South Pacific islands.

Please send your stories for consideration to Vania at VaniaChew@adventistmedia.org.au by July 31, 2022.

Active August

We are delighted to announce that ADRA's new signature event Active August is now LIVE! This is an exciting new campaign to get people moving while fundraising to help end poverty.

For the month of August you can walk, run or ride 4km a day (the average distance a homeless person in Australia travels to access services), 6km a day (the average a person in a developing country walks to get water) or a massive 20km a weekday (the distance children in Africa walk to get to and from school). Or you can choose your own challenge distance.

Projectors Needed for Evangelistic meeting in New Caledonia

At the end of the year, New Caledonia mission will have 15 evangelistic meetings in 15 sites on Mare Island, New Caledonia.

They are in need of 8 extra video projectors to supplement what's available there. We are kindly asking if there are churches or members who will be happy to donate a video projector for their evangelistic program?

If you do have an old video(data) projector that you are no longer using, or are thinking of upgrading, the New Caledonia mission would be very happy to receive your donation!

EndItNow Emphasis Day

27 August 2022 | Abuse of Power
This year for enditnow® Emphasis Day we have chosen to focus on "Abuse of Power," an issue that is difficult to address and infrequently spoke about in our church. How do those in power and leadership relate to church members? Many members have had painful experiences that they may have never spoken about but that nonetheless need to be addressed. This is a sensitive topic, and we ask that in all we do and say we do not make general statements about all people in power since this does not apply to all, only to some.
