"Get Jobs in Minneapolis" Initiative

Asian Media Access is collaborating with the City of Minneapolis to mobilize Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) residents to get back to the workforce and to create innovative ways to connect and empower AAPIs to also consider starting their own businesses.

As the pandemic’s new realities set in, many in our communities left the workforce - some by force through layoffs and employer closures, others to stay with children now learning from home, and others out of concern for their or their family members’ health. This led to dramatic declines in labor force participation. It has been two years since those initial shocks of the COVID-19, and many in our communities are still struggling to find access back to work and training.

We are very pleased to inform you that Mall of America, in partnership with the local Minnesota Chinese Community and local Ethnic Communities are planning to host a Moon Festival Celebration event at MOA on September 25, 2022. This will be a grand gala and celebration. We are inviting some well-known folk artists to join us in the celebration, promoting exchanges of our ancient culture, arts and heritage with local ethnic communities and artists, showcasing authentic Asian culture to bigger American communities.

As you may know, China has over 10 million of Hmong people living in several southern autonomous counties, closer to Vietnam, Laos etc. Many of Minnesota Hmong people have visited China in the past 10 years. We are inviting Art Troupes from the local Chinese community to join our Moon Festival celebrations with Hmong, Lao and Vietnam Communities. By bringing these artists from local Chinese and ethnic artists together at the Mall of America, we are hoping to create a cultural performance that would be time-traveling with the ancient Asian community shared heritage, praise the greatness of modern life in Minnesota and America, promote the ancient tradition and heritage in the State, and engage communities with similar cultural and art backgrounds.
