Notice of an Appeal (K. Woods) to be heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Monday 25 July

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Monday 25 July 2022 to hear an Appeal brought by Kielan Woods against the decision of the Stewards at Worcester on 14 July 2022 to suspend him for 7 days for careless riding following the eventmasters.co.uk Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5).

An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the bend leaving the back straight on the final circuit, involving MAC SUIBHNE (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Emma Smith-Chaston and STIGWOOD (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Kielan Woods. Philip Armson, the rider of KAPITALISTE (FR), placed second, was also present in the enquiry but was found to have no involvement in the interference. Woods was suspended for 7 days for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to avoid causing interference to Smith-Chaston, who had established a legitimate position to his inside over a period of approximately 9 seconds after jumping the final hurdle in the back-straight, resulting in MAC SUIBHNE (IRE) losing its position and stumbling badly.
