A special Harvest-to-Wreath making session led by local winemaker and floral designer Amber Hogan will be held this Saturday morning.
Walk through the lavender fields and harvest the perfect stems for your DIY lavender wreath.  Amber will guide you on the elements of design at this outdoor workshop.  All materials are included in your ticket price as well as refreshments during the class.  What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning right here at home in the Santa Ynez Valley.

The Masha Keating Gallery is opening in

Join us in celebrating the Grand Opening of the Masha Keating Gallery with a show dedicated to the Santa Ynez Valley. Titled “Wings and Petals”, this show represents a deep appreciation for the surrounding area that Keating calls home, along with a renewed awe of nature.

The mission of the SYV Therapeutic Riding Program is to provide quality equine-assisted activities to children and adults with physical, cognitive, social, emotional and or other life challenges, regardless of their ability to pay.
 

The Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1990 by  Mary Ann Evans, Ph.D. 

They are a Premier Accredited Center with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH), the highest national rating. 

They offer therapeutic riding, school and group programs, and a mental health program. The Program currently serves 70 students each week and over 300 annually. Take a look at some of the programs they offer:

  • Individual and group therapeutic riding lessons to children and adults with special needs.

  • Solvang School’s Special Education weekly therapeutic riding lessons.

  • United Cerebral Palsy Applied Abilities weekly therapeutic riding lessons.

  • Hidden Wings’s special horsemanship class.

  • County-wide special education and at-risk classes 8-week therapeutic riding session.

  • Vandenberg Space Force Base Field Days for special needs children.

  • Camps for all Valley kids in partnership with Solvang Parks & Recreation.

  • Travels with Teacup - we bring our miniature horse to  your organization.

  • CALM Summer Camp with Dr. Claydon for abused children.

  • Foster Youth Camp.

  • United Way Summer Camp.

  • Elks Rodeo Golden Circle Camp for children with cancer - NEW

EconAlliance & Chumash Win EDA Grant!
 

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and The Economic Alliance Foundation (EconAlliance) have been awarded $444,787 in federal funding for their 2021 joint application to produce a Northern Santa Barbara County Fiber Ring Broadband Strategy and Business Plan. Funds are being awarded by the Economic Development Administration, which is a bureau within the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The bulk of the award will be funding for a telecom consultant to identify and assess two viable routes for a fiber ring addressing the “middle mile” broadband needs of the five cities and several unincorporated communities in Northern Santa Barbara County.

Beginning July 1, 2022, any alcohol server and their manager must have a valid RBS certification from an ABC accredited RBS training provider and pass an online ABC administered RBS exam within 60 calendar days from the first date of employment.  You must pass the exam by August 31, 2022.

Take one of these online courses to comply with the new Responsible Beverage Service requirements, cost is $39, get this done asap, prices go up in August :

Non-profit organizations that have acquired a temporary daily on-sale license or temporary daily off-sale license for an event must have at least one RBS-certified person on-site to oversee the alcohol service for the event. This designated person must have acquired their certification by the day of the event.

A resilience hub is a community-serving facility that can coordinate emergency resource distribution and provide services, like food, water or clean air rooms before, during and/or after a natural hazard event.
