Mikawa Yatsubusa is a very small and compact Japanese maple cultivar in the soapberry family. This plant is noted for its layered foliage and almost contorted look. The fall colors are spectacular. The name means “a small cluster of three rivers”. Early in Spring, its leaves are yellow-green, turning medium green in summer and yellow/gold in Fall with the serrated edges of the outer leaves showing bright red. Mikawa is slow-growing and heat tolerant. We have Mikawas starting at $338. and up- lots of different price points for this tree. Take a look at the one planted at the nursery- it is fabulous.

Acer Palmatum Shishigashira is another wonderful upright green Japanese maple. Shishigashira is often referred to as “Lion’s Head”. It is upright, compact, and slow growing that averages about 15 feet tall over a number of years. The lobed, crinkled bright green leaves grow in tufts along the stems. Foliage turns showy shades of gold and crimson in fall. We have price points from $188 to $5,000 ( and tons of price points in between) at the Nursery depending on size and caliper.
