The Uproot Project is excited to be partnering with The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources (IJNR) to host a workshop exclusive to Uproot members.
The 3-day, 2-night program will take place in Toledo, Ohio from August 21-23. Participating journalists will stay at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie, as they learn about reporting on water from leading freshwater scientists and veteran environmental journalists. This program is aimed at covering the challenges facing our freshwater resources and providing training for early career environmental journalists of color. We will spend time out in the field and in the lab as we discuss the challenges of translating science for wider audiences and telling accurate and compelling stories about complicated issues.
IJNR will cover travel during the workshop, meal and lodging expenses for participating journalists. Participating journalists must be or become members of the Uproot Project.
Applications are now open, and will close on Friday, July 22. Apply HERE
