Dear Friends

I hope this email finds you doing (and staying) well. Just a reminder that Light Sensitive opens tomorrow. I’m so happy to be debuting the first 2 🔥 & ❄️ prints at Art Intersection - and hope that some of you will be able to attend the opening reception; Please see below for more info [If you do attend, please send me some photos of my work in the show, as I won’t be in town for it].

In addition, I am excited to tell you about my upcoming Artist-in-Residence via Frames Magazine (going LIVE this August!) and my new partnership with 1st Dibs (Going LIVE early next week!), as well as happy to give you a heads up on some new press that’ll be coming out before the month is up.

[Since I’m leaning towards printing some of “Haunted” during my residency, and am currently preparing for the first installment of this 4-5 part series, I thought this lovely photo by the super talented Karen Vierbuchen was fitting… (More about that below.)]

Art Intersection presents Light Sensitive, our twelfth, international juried exhibition of images created using traditional darkroom, historical, and alternative photographic processes and methods. This year we are honored to have photographer and alternative photography process artisan Elizabeth Opalenik jury the submitted work.

As we have seen technology trends continue to drive digital photography and presentation, Light Sensitive highlights art from artists working in traditional and historical printing processes.

Light Sensitive seeks to celebrate, promote, and reaffirm the art of handcrafted prints that uniquely belong to the tradition of light sensitive creative processes. Each year we are in search for work that represents creativity, passion, and displays the beauty of these light sensitive processes.

Here are a couple cell shots of my work in the show (post-framing/pre-shipping)

“The Wave (aka Wave of Mutilation)” - unique silver gelatin print (16x20); Fire & Ice series

“Missing Lobos (aka The Whale)” - Unique silver gelatin print (16x20); Fire & Ice series

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE VIA FRAMES MAGAZINE

I am really excited to tell you about my upcoming (virtual) A.I.R. Which will basically be done (at least 90%) in my darkroom. Those who have been wondering just what it is I do in the darkroom, especially in the case of my alt process photograms, can get a firsthand look, as I will be bringing viewers into the darkroom with me… Please stay tuned for more news, as this will be a 4-5 part series, which will go live as the work progresses, over the month of August.

Please note that you will need to be a subscriber to see my residency in full (not to worry, subscriptions are cheap and Frames Magazine is a great resource for those of you who happen to be photogs).

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH 1ST DIBS

Given that I literally just signed the contract yesterday, it’s probably going to be a few days or so before I go live, but I am thrilled to tell you that (after a month of deliberations), I will be selling a selection of my personal work on 1st Dibs - before the month is up!

This is by invite only, and I haven’t seen anything close to the kind of work I’ve been doing on there, so am sending good (sales) vibes out into the universe (and would really appreciate it if you would help spread the word to any of your friends who might be interested in unique or one-of-a-kind artwork).

Please stay tuned. In the meantime, you can click the button (below) to see where (else) you’ll soon see my artwork.

Upcoming Press/Features

I’ll close with some upcoming press, as this will be my last announcement of the month.

Yesterday, I learned that my work will be featured in Issue 7 of Aeonian Magazine; I’m not sure which images they selected yet, but you can find out by visiting the website/clicking on the button below, when the issue comes out at the end of this month.

For those who aren’t familiar with the publication, this virtual magazine is dedicated to all things alt process (photography), and while they have have featured my work a few times in the past, this will be the first time time they feature any of my “Fire & Ice” prints.

I also have an interview coming out (in the next couple weeks or so) in Shoutout Arizona Magazine, and that will probably go live before my next announcement, so just a heads up to keep an eye out for that as well.

That’s all until August, thanks for reading and for the the ongoing support (it means more than you know). Wishing you a happy rest of July and a happy, safe weekend.

All my best,

Kimberly
