Greetings from the beautiful Kigali Conference Centre in the land of a thousand hills - Rwanda

We are excited for the first day of the first-ever African Protected Areas Congress - APAC. APAC seeks to position Africa's protected and conserved areas within the broader goals of economic development and community well-being and to increase the understanding of the vital role parks play in conserving biodiversity and delivering the ecosystem services that underpin human welfare and livelihoods.
We will also take this opportunity to launch our Strategic Plan for Africa on Thursday, 21st July 2022, in the 'Panda Hut Pavilion' at APAC. Those attending the APAC are welcome to join this event.

With a delegation of over 50 pandas at APAC,  a Panda Hut pavilion with eight plenary presentations, eight side sessions and support from 5 of the Top 100 Youth Conservation Leaders in Africa, WWF is fully engaged in the first-ever APAC. Look out for all Panda events on our website.

WWF Cameroon Participates In the Parties of the Congo Basin Forests Partnership (PFBC) 

The 19th Meeting of the Parties of the Congo Basin Forests Partnership (PFBC) opened in Libreville, Gabon, on July 5, 2022. Among topics discussed were; Inclusive conservation, cross-border conservation, and human rights in law enforcement. 

WWF Zimbabwe Launches COVID-19 SOS Programme 

The event witnessed the handover of field equipment and patrol rations for community game guard operations in the respective areas. The programme is aimed at supporting wildlife protection operations threatened by the loss of CAMPFIRE revenues due to COVID-19 impacts.

WWF Tanzania Attends Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) Conference

The theme this year was Environmental Impact on Integral Human Development. Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) in Africa Initiative lead Severin Kalonga shared some insight on how and why WWF does FLR.

WWF Team Visits Zambia
WWF International had the opportunity to meet her Honour, the Vice President of the Republic Of Zambia, Ms Mutale Nalumango.

The team also attended the 30th-anniversary celebration of CARE Zambia and met CARE President Michelle Dunn. In 2008, CARE and WWF launched a partnership to address the root causes of poverty and environmental degradation.

It will take 132 years to reach gender parity, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2022 – with only 68% of the gender gap closed.
Iceland tops the rankings and is the only economy to have closed more than 90% of its gap.
The top 10 economies have all closed more than 80% of their gender gap.
