Welcome, Principal Farrand!

Welcome to Jill Farrand, who joined the district as the 7-12 principal on July 9.

"It's been many years since I walked the halls of Heuvelton, but as they say - once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!" Farrand said. Here are a few fun facts Ms. Farrand shared to introduce herself:

3. I have three children- twin boys who are 13 and a daughter who is 14.
4. My favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

                                             Communications / ParentSquare
We are excited to announce that Heuvelton Central School District will be implementing a new school-to-home communication system called ParentSquare. This platform will be replacing the current communication system One Call Now. More information regarding the ParentSquare transition will be available in the next few weeks.

School Resource Officer Survey

In June of 2022, members of the Heuvelton District Safety Team discussed practices and features to promote the safety of staff and students at Heuvelton Central School District. One option that some of our neighboring school districts have chosen to implement is the addition of School Resource Officer/Deputy positions (SRO/D). The topic of implementing one of these positions in our district was brought to the Heuvelton Central School District Board of Education. The district is considering using a portion of federal funds that are specifically allocated for safety and security to fund an SRO position. In order to make a more informed decision, the Board has asked for additional information on costs, timing and the level of support from the school community.

As we plan for the upcoming school year, and in the spirit of the district’s commitment to engaging with our school community, we invite you to share your thoughts about a school resource officer (SRO) in the short survey below. This survey is meant to gather feedback on perceived safety within the district and the level of community support for a position such as this. All feedback will be shared with the Board to inform the decision-making process. Please note that the completion of this survey is for informational purposes only. The results of this survey will not be the sole factor in determining if an SRO/D position will be implemented in the district. Information collected from this survey will be used by the Superintendent and Board of Education to inform their recommendations on an SRO program moving forward.

This survey will be open Monday, July 25 until Friday, August 5.

Please contact hcscommunications@heuvelton.k12.ny.us with any questions or concerns.

Congrats to the Heuvelton Trap Team for their success at the 2022 state tournament!

The Bulldogs brought home three pieces of hardware while at the New York State finals for the high school trap shoot, held when in Bridgeport, N.Y. Heuvelton Central School has many great shooters, but two shooters battled the wind – which was relentless and made the birds dance all day – to bring home some well-earned hardware.

Allison Trathen took first place in the females Jr. Varsity division while at the State shoot. Alli shot 82 of 100 targets, clinching the High Gun award in her division. Closing out his senior year, Evan Felt finished with a score of 85 of 100 targets, which placed him third in the male JV division, earning him a third place finish. The third award was the team trophy for second place in the JV division. This award is based on the overall score of the shooters at the JV level. The Heuvelton Bulldog shooters placed the overall on Monday, June 27th while at the State tournament.

The Bulldogs brought 10 shooters to the state competition. Brandon Pray (89/100), Garrett Wagner (83/100) and Landan Denner (69/100) all qualified at the varsity level. Allie Trathen (82/100), Brady Eggelston (73/100), Shane Mudge (83/100), Nick Youngs (75/100), Evan Felt (85/100) and Reid Doyle (66/100) all qualified at the JV level. Isaac Murdock (62/100) shot in the novice division.

Summer Sports

Many of our students have been participating in summer camps for athletics. Some of our students participated in a four day lacrosse camp at St. Lawrence University (pictured right). Other students had the opportunity to participate in the week long NIKE Basketball Camp at SUNY Potsdam.

Summer Fun

Our students have had so many opportunities to get involved this summer! Some students (left) enjoyed a week full of fun activates at the Cornell Cooperative Extension like feeding the farm animals. Other students (left) got to spend three days making new friends and engaging in outdoor activities at Camp Cloverbud.
