988 Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline Adds to New Hampshire’s Robust Crisis Landscape
On July 16, NH will join states across the country in adopting 988, the new three-digit dialing, texting, and chat code for people experiencing a suicidal, mental health or substance misuse-related crisis. 988 is an addition to other 3-digit response systems such as 911 and 211. It is designed as a national model specifically to create an alternative to 911 for behavioral health crises that do not require a law enforcement or emergency services response. As a national system, 988 routes calls by area code, which means that a caller from an area code outside NH will reach a call center in their area code’s corresponding state. 211 will remain a non-emergency number to connect with community resources and The Doorway, NH's substance misuse access point. For more information on 988, visit here.

Monthly Health Care Provider & Public Health Partner Call - 7.14.22
Here are the slides from the July NH DPHS Health Care Provider & Public Health Partner Call, which covered COVID-19 vaccine recommendations and Monkeypox updates. All call information, including call slides and Zoom info, are posted on this webpage. During the 7/14 call, Drs. Chan and Talbot discussed how NH is doing vaccinating children under 5: Vaccine uptake has been low in NH and nationally for children under 5. About 2K doses of vaccine have been administered to this age group in NH – out of about 59K children under 5 in NH. Dr. Chan said as summer ends and children enter school and child care, there will hopefully be more uptake. The State encourages incorporating pediatric COVID-19 vaccines into well-child visits and ensuring children are caught up on routine and well-child vaccinations.
