Check out our July Lunch and Learn. Lauren Sandhu discusses the Blanchard River Watershed project done in conjunction with TNC. The goal of this project is to explore innovative solutions for low yield crop land.

The Maumee Watershed Nutrient TMDL Project Draft Preliminary Modeling Results is Now Available for Review and Comment

Comments on the draft Preliminary Modeling Results (PMR), step 4 of the Maumee Watershed Nutrient Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), are now being accepted until 5 p.m. Aug. 17.

The goal of the TMDL project is to reduce total and dissolved reactive phosphorus loads from the Maumee River in order to remove drinking water, aquatic life, and recreational impairments to the shoreline, open water, and islands of Lake Erie’s western basin.

Can Cover Crops and No Till Improve Ohio Soil and Water Quality

Join us, August 23, as Will Osterholz, USDA, and Vinayak Shedekar, OSU, discuss their research that explores the co-benefits of long-term soil health practices (SHPs) and their potential impacts on water quality. They are working with farmer collaborators, with both mature and immature SHP systems, to assess soil health and monitor edge of field water discharge, concentrations of sediment, soluble and total reactive nutrients in surface and subsurface drainage.
Ohio No Till Council Field Days : August 18, 20 & 23
The Ohio No-till Council is providing three opportunities to learn the latest information about soil health, cover crops, and a whole lot more. The Nature Conservancy, Ohio Soybean Council and the Ohio Corn Marketing program are assisting with these No-till events.
Urban Producers and Public Invited to Attend Federal Advisory Committee for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production August 5
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) encourages urban producers and others to attend the second public meeting of the Federal Advisory Committee for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production on August 5. The Committee will discuss new urban conservation practices, focus areas and priorities for the Commission, and the new Farm Service Agency (FSA) urban county committees, among other topics.
The meeting is Aug. 5, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. Eastern. To attend, register by Aug. 4, 2022
