Rare Opportunity to see
Private Newport Arboreta!
|
|
July 15, 2022
This week, in addition to be Newport Tree Conservancy arboreta tour (see above), I want to highlight possible outdoor activities that don't make the Calendar because they are self-guided or personally scheduled. RI Wild Plant Society offers more than a dozen self-guided plant and nature walks in preserves all over the state. RIWPS also will arrange "Wild Things" Family Walks geared for children, for which you can sign up. See the RIWPS website for descriptions of all their walks. There is also a page for children's outdoor activities to 'encourage your budding botanist."
The Calendar has activities for all ages and experience. Use the search tools to see children/family events, sales, walks, events on a particular topic.... Whatever intrigues you. Explore your options for outdoor activities and learning opportunities during July!
In addition to the activities for children organized by Audubon, US Fish & Wildlife has things to do for kids at Kettle Pond Visitor Center in Charlestown.
See the Just Added Calendar for the latest additions.
See the opportunities for landowners and farmers on the NRCS calendar.
