Greetings Friends!

We continue to be amazed by how God works through challenging times. Here in Peru, we still have fairly stringent Covid masking and gathering restrictions, even almost two and a half years later. Thankfully, we serve a mighty God and are encouraged by all that He accomplishes while the circumstances are challenging or discouraging.

Our wonderful partner organization Sewing with a Mission (SWAM), is trying to teach local women how to improve their sewing skills for personal use or for their own small businesses. They are planning to come teach in Peru again in early 2023. In the meantime, SWAM would like to start empowering local women to run these kinds of workshops themselves. They have invited a small group of ladies who have demonstrated a willingness to teach and talent in sewing to attend a focused training in August on how to host workshops. We are helping organize this training, and the SWAM team has asked that some of this time be used for our Biblical business and finances training as well, which will be an exciting extension of what we can offer.

Our hybrid in-person and video training format for our Biblical Business Basics training is now completed! It took awhile to get all the videos created and edited, but we are ready to launch it with our next group in two weeks. We continue to try to improve the material, and are hoping that this model will improve the participants’ ability to implement these concepts in their businesses. Please pray for them to be encouraged in their efforts to learn.

Lastly, we are so excited to announce that Kawaq Yaku is open once again! Many of you will remember Angel and Rosa, the former house parents of the Kusi orphanage; their daughter Alexia and her soon-to-be husband Christian worked hard to open a restaurant in Yungay at the end of May. They asked for permission to use the Kawaq Yaku name with our happy blessing. Christian is an excellent chef and the restaurant is already doing well. When they expand to offering a typical “menu” lunch in the afternoon, they are hoping to cook up extra plates every day and bring them around to some of the elderly in the community that do not have families to help take care of them. We are so excited to see Kawaq Yaku with new life again, and for the blessing it can hopefully be in the community.

We pray for you all regularly—please let us know if there is anything particularly we can be praying about for you!
