Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin
June 2022
(LtoR) Bev, Lori, Ann, Alaire and Jackie

Welcome New Members
On June 15, we were delighted to induct two new members into the club – Ann Baker and Lori Di Pillo.  In addition, we welcomed Heather Clark, who transferred from the SI South Placer Club.  We are looking forward to getting to know these new members, and involving them in our committees and projects.
May's Tostada Bingo was a Huge Success
Our super-fun Tostado Bingo held on May 14 netted the club a profit of $8,785.  Chair Cyndie attributes the influx of younger people and the sell-out crowd of 218 to the great social media blitz by Julie M., Becky F. and Jenny. Thank you to Chef Peggy for the yummy tostadas, rice, beans and nacho bar enjoyed by all. We appreciate all the volunteers who helped make this a successful event.
Fun Times at Citizen Vine
There were 16 people who came to the club Mixer on May 18 at Citizen Vine (co-owned by Becky J). Several people interested in joining the club attended, according to Bev. “Members saw to it that their invitees were taken care of with cold refreshments and delicious flat bread appetizers,” said Bev. “President Rae brought her vision board and described this year’s accomplishments as well as all of the events and fundraisers we held.”  Thanks to Membership Committee Chair Bev with Alaire, Shari and Julie B. for arranging this fun event.
New Board Installed
The club celebrated this year’s successes, recognized the contributions of the 2021-22 board and congratulated the new board members at the Installation Ceremony held on June 15. In addition, Connie Pool, Director, Sierra Nevada Region District 4, made a presentation. Members also revealed their Secret Pals; we appreciate Sharla overseeing this member program.

Thanks to Terry for hosting this celebration and Alaire, Bev and Shari for organizing it. We appreciate that Becky F., with Bev and Alaire, created a beautiful President’s book to memorialize Rae’s successful year. What a great year!

I'm so thankful to be a part of this amazing club. I look forward to another exciting year supporting your ideas, recognizing individual contributions and ensuring a positive member experience.

We Rise by Lifting Others, Rae
Pampered Chef Cooks Up Easy Fundraiser
Thank you to Hillery Wallis of Pampered Chef who delivered $627 to the club as a result of the fundraiser organized by Cyndie. We appreciate all those who participated and shared the announcement with their friends.
Bounty of Bags Completed for Days for Girls
Thank you to President Rae and all the members who helped create the 79 Days for Girls sustainable sanitary kits.

We are assisting an international organization that sees menstrual health management as a matter of human rights and a critical component to achieving gender equity. To learn more, go to Days for Girls.
Thanks to the Rocklin Soroptimist Club
Unfortunately, the SI South Placer club, based in Rocklin, is folding. We are excited that several members will be transitioning to our club. In addition, the club donated items that we can use for events and generously contributed over $1600 to support our Soroptimist Dream It Be It career exploration project that we offer to young girls.
Meet Chris Hebard-Summers
Chris Hebard-Summers has been a member of the Loomis Soroptimist club since 1995. "Soroptimist feeds my soul and provides me with the opportunity to impact my community both locally and globally," said Chris. "It's fun -- where else can you work and give alongside a group of fantastic, like-minded women?"

"It doesn't matter if we are fundraising, serving or just meeting, I always enjoy nurturing the relationships I've come to val
ue so much over the years.  I love all of our projects, which is why I really like to help with fundraising so we can continue to support and enhance the lives of women and girls."

Chris grew up in Loomis and is the third generation of her family to run their independent insurance agency, Hebard Insurance Solutions, in Loomis. For the past 36 years, Chris has helped clients protect all the things that are important to them.

When not busy at the insurance agency, or with Soroptimist, Chris enjoys working with her husband, Bill, on their small family farm. She likes gardening, canning, making cheese and bread, and milking their cow, Daisy. Best of all, says Chris, is spending time with her two grandchildren, Grant and Scarlett.
