Patriarchal societies have run their course as a model for power. Endless wars and civil conflicts that foster the arms race, with their insane buildup of nuclear weaponry - not to mention the greed fueling the raping of the environment - are symptoms of masculine aggression reaching its pinnacle of atrocities in a dead end, both literally and figuratively.
However, the case for prehistoric matriarchal societies as inspiration for today's modern world is less useful if a matriarchy is defined narrowly as simply the opposite of patriarchy, as a society “ruled” by women instead of men.
These "matriarchies" were not crude reversals of patriarchal power, but models of peace, plenty, harmony with nature, and, significantly, gender egalitarianism. The evidence available to us regarding gender relations in prehistory is ambiguous at best, and always subject to interpretation.
Instead, women continue to find inspiration in, and continue to embrace, maternal values such as care-taking and nurturing negotiation-oriented communities, with equality for women and men alike. The divine feminine is reawakening throughout the modern world.
Women's Equality Day is August 26, 2022. 
Feminine energy as a potent energy source goes hand-in-hand - as well as beyond - political and social factors. There are numerous 'she-roes' fighting the good fight today.

- Dolores Huerta is an American labor leader and civil rights activist who, with Cesar Chavez, is a co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association
- Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient ever, is a force of nature in the battle for girls' rights
- Winona LaDuke founded the White Earth Land Recovery Project, and the Indigenous Women’s Network, empowering USA's Indigenous women, and aided in the NoDAPL pipeline protests
 Find inspiration in these and other, numerous 'she-roes' fighting to defend women's rights across the globe. Connect with your local representatives as to their views on the current fight for women's bodily autonomy. Get involved, no matter where you live, no matter your gender assignment.
If you feel a spiritual reconnection to the Divine Feminine, you can organically support the global rebalancing of Divine Feminine energies with Divine Masculine energies. Meditation with intention is effective. Once the Divine power of feminine energy is envisioned in this way, a more inclusive expression of creativity, joy, peace and love will be achievable.
