Commissioner Arrington to Host Annual “It Takes A Village”
School Supply Giveaway

This is the eighth year for the supply giveaway for District 5 students
 
ATLANTA – Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. will mark the kick-off the 2022-2023 school year with his eighth annual “It Takes a Village” (ITAV) back-to-school giveaway. Commissioner Arrington will host 3 events to ensure District 5 students have the tools needed to be successful as they head back to school.

Due to the ongoing difficulties with the COVID-19 pandemic, two of this year’s event will include a drive-through delivery of school supplies to families wishing to participate. Vaccinations will be administered to young people by the Fulton County Board of Health. Unvaccinated participants are asked to wear masks and all participants must register in advance.

This year’s distribution event is co-sponsored by the Fulton County Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities, New Beginnings Today, Peach State Health Plan, and CORE. The scheduled locations and times for the “It Takes A Village” events include:

At the Wolf Creek “It Takes A Village Event”, Commissioner Arrington in collaboration with the Friends of Wolf Creek will present up to 10 - $500 book scholarships to winners of this year's ITAV Student Essay Competition. This year, in 1,500 words college students will discuss the unintended consequences of Georgia's new controversial "constitutional carry" law. Students must live in Fulton County or attend a college or university located in Fulton County. Deadline to submit essay is Friday, July 22nd at 4pm.  Please see flyer below.
 
Backpacks with supplies and masks will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis to those who RSVP for an event. Residents need to have ID to verify residency and may only receive supplies at one location.
