JULY 2022

ISSUE: #07

Kia Orana ki to tatou au kōpu tangata o te eFAMILIES.

We hope you all have been keeping warm and safe during this chilly weather.

This past year we have seen our eFAMILIES connect and engage with so many awesome people and attend/support a variety of packed-out events. It’s been a privilege to watch our eFAMILIES flourish this year, we know that it takes a lot of time and sacrifice to run a business and we commend you for your efforts. This month’s edition we wanted to share with you our ‘behind-the-scenes' wins with our team at Enterprising Families. Not only do we see the need to support our families in their development, but we also believe that it is vital for our team to continue to grow alongside our eFAMILIES.

Also, a reminder that Kapa Nui that is set to be held on Saturday 6 August 10am – 8pm at the Vodafone Events Centre.  CIDANZ is a proud sponsor of this event. Come along and check it out!  In addition to the Kapa Nui cultural competition, we are proud to share that there will be eight eFAMILY stalls at the Kapa Nui Market, two CIDANZ information stalls, our Vainetini stall and a Tivaevae exhibition.  Our CIDANZ team will be present throughout Kapa Nui to support the event and our eFAMILIES, connect with our community and soak up all that Kuki goodness!  Come and see us and say hi at Kapa Nui!

As the year keeps getting busier, we wanted to remind you to like and follow our social pages on Facebook and Instagram to keep to date with Enterprising Families’ notices.

Meitaki ma’ata e kia manuia.

Our behind-the-scenes eFAMILY wins!

This year, we have shared so many awesome stories about our eFAMILIES and their involvement in the community. From participating in the IAM Mangere Markets at the Mangere Town Centre to supporting CIDANZ at the opening of the first Cook Island Early Childhood Centre, Tai’i Tamaiti. It is fair to say that our eFAMILIES have had an incredible run thus far. We have witnessed and celebrated the public work of our eFAMILIES in the community and wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate our big wins behind the scenes with our eFAMILY team.

Earlier in the year, we were fortunate to be able to connect our eFAMILIES to a business grant opportunity with The Pacific Business Trust and Activate Tamaki Makaurau as well as become a provider of business capability training for the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).

Pacific Business Trust and Activate Tamaki Makaurau Grant Opportunity

Through Pacific Business Trust (PBT) and Activate Tamaki Makaurau (ATM), four of our eFAMILIES were able to receive funding to support their businesses with business advisory grants of $3,000 and implementation grants of $4,000 to make their enterprise goals a reality.  Our families had the opportunity of being connected to a community of over 1100 expert service providers delivering on:

  • Business strategy and planning;

  • Continuity advice;

  • Financial planning;

  • Cashflow management;

  • Human and employment;

  • Marketing advice and planning; and

  • Health and wellbeing planning.

On behalf of our team at eFAMILIES, we wanted to give massive thanks to Activate Tamaki Makaurau and Christian from PBT for giving our four eFAMILIES the opportunity to grow and develop their skills as businesses owners and receive expert business services to help their business grow.

Congratulations and thank you to our amazing eFAMILIES who we supported through the application process and who were successful!

Business Training and Advice Grant Service Provider for Ministry of Social Development

Another huge win for Enterprising Families recently, is that the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) has approved our programme to be a provider of business capability training to MSD clients.  MSD clients who are looking to start a business and become self-employed can apply for a self-employment start-up grant and flexi-wage payments as they start their business and work towards self-employment. As part of the process clients receive business coaching and mentoring including support to write a business plan, meeting MSD’s requirements.  Enterprising Families/CIDANZ is now an approved provider to whom MSD can refer their clients.  We have been working hard with an accountant/business advisor to develop an incredible business coaching/mentoring and business plan writing programme, which we will be delivering from the end of this month!  We are excited to start this work with our first referral that we have received from MSD!

You can read more about the self-employment start up payment here Self-employment start up payment - Work and Income and more about flexi-wage support here Flexi-wage for self-employment - Work and Income.  If you are an MSD client and would like to know more about these amazing opportunities get in touch with Bianca by email,  bianca@cidanz.co.nz, and we will guide you where to start with MSD.
