COMMITTEES. As a 501(c)(3) organization, VCS relies on volunteers to help drive our strategic initiatives. Meeting regularly throughout the year, here are a few examples of what the Advocacy Committee was able to achieve, ensuring that VCS is a trusted source in the conversations that lead to solid decisions about the use of cannabis in the treatment of pets.
The committee continues to provide guidance to the California Veterinary Medical Board regarding cannabis policy for veterinarians.
In addition, over the past year they have:
Provided guidance to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) to help them craft their policy position on the use of cannabis in veterinary medicine.
Participated in an international roundtable meeting, sponsored by the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, about cannabis advocacy and regulatory issues.
Joined the US Hemp Roundtable and participates in its regular meetings, specifically to discuss pet advocacy efforts.
Offered our support to the Oregon veterinary medical board regarding cannabis policy decisions and subsequently spoke with the Oregon veterinary medical board about cannabis policy
