Day 721 - It goes without saying...just kidding.
I lost my mind… TWICE, actually, in the past 10 days or so, but found it both times. There's a trick to finding a lost mind that involves some real thinking, and, "mind-less" thinking is a roller coaster of confusion, but, HANDS UP ON THE WAY DOWN THE BIG HILLS! In the past when I've lost my mind, I've recovered it fairly quickly. Comes back re-formatted, still has cache stored from before.. a real mystery as to the location of the restart button. Had to do a hard boot a few days ago, and that too is common when a lost mind is finally recovered. I blinked a minute or two but finally spun back up. Got a weird hum coming out of my left quadrant but I think it’s just traffic. Or gas. I feel ok. My name is Rham Cunningham. I’ve been vaccinated, boosted twice, (maybe 3 times if that guy outside Walgreens was legit) and I finally got COVID… dodged it over two years, but then it slapped me , mildly, like with a wooden spoon too frail to cause any real pain. More of an annoyance. Sinus headache gone rogue and the only relief is binging something in search of your next screen-obsession…. Did I find it? Not really. Started and finished Barry on HBO Max. I doubt there’s a season 4. Doesn’t really need to be. Wasn’t really what I expected, but I liked it. It's an easy one to start and finish. But I locked up, locked down, Watr'd, Door Dashed, had a bag a chips and a French onion soup delivered to my damn doorstep by a man I called ma'm, corrected myself, then buried my head in the plastic bag of food (but that is most definitely a different log for a different day). It was pure chaos. Lost internet connectivity one time for over 45 seconds like we were in some sort of dial-up time portal but no one had solitaire downloaded as we waited. At times like it was 2020 all over again, only this time, it came with a snotty nose and a sneeze as to appear all "summer-cold-like" ...AAAH CHOO!! indeed, said "the sickness"... It's no cold. You have ... TESTED +!!! ... But it's gone. I'm better. Lindsay is better. We are better. I guess we got a late start on the whole taking advantage of being locked inside together thing. By taking advantage, I mean, in a positive-constructive way. I know there are some who could raise their hands who took the lock down in a far different direction, both in life and love and work and play and how you handled boredom, how you feel regret for something still undone, or great joy for something accomplished. “COVID brain" is a real thing and is has effects far greater than we even know ... But as for us, I think we got the hang of it now, and not to credit COVID for yet another positive twist on life, because if we're counting that would make two times now, so, I won't. But plans were made for something epic-ally fun between myself, my other selves (even him) and my wife Lindsay to take a trip in the very near future, per the very strict instruction of a certain 7 year old. And besides, can't hurt... So that is exactly what we intend to do. It's in the whiteboard phase (MY FAVORITE PHASE) and I'm excited for the next 30 days to unfold.
I think we can all agree that this pandemic will never really be over. We will learn to adapt and hope we do so in the best possible way. There will be others, and to deflect, like I am so good at doing, I think it's important, even though they're a national chain and I'm a big supporter of local (but I mean local works there) but it just needs to be brought up, if for nothing else, as a "FYI" but Applebees has boneless buffalo wings that are tossed in Flamin' Hot Fritos dust. You can go back and read that again, or just order it online. (You don't have to thank me or tag me or @mention me; there's no promo code or anything. Just a "Rham-snack hack.")
Lots on the calendar - a snapshot below. ART ON THE BORDER is this weekend! Peacemaker Music Fest next weekend (sold out!) and overall, there's just a positive hum winding its way through the streets. Do you hear it? No? It's because you're TV is on 71 and there's no reason ANYONE should listen at that level - get your hearing checked....also, Get up off the couch, Get Outside, Life, and Love Fort Smith Out Loud while you're at it...also, make someone smile. That's an order. Too tall? Of course not. It's just enough..
