Welcoming New International Students
UToledo is expecting over 400 new international students this fall! To be better prepared to welcome these students, here are some resources for you to keep in mind. Feel free to pass it on to your new international students.

  • International Student Welcome Week  August 15, 2022 – August 24, 2022
The International Student Welcome Week is a one-week program that aims to provide new international students an opportunity to get familiar with the UToledo campus and university resources. The program combines helpful workshops, presentations and activities on academic support, housing, residence life, campus jobs, campus tour, insurance and classroom expectations for international students. You can check all activities and sessions in the International Student Welcome Week Website.

  • New Student Step-by-Step Website
This website provides newly admitted international students with a guideline on all the important steps they need to do before starting their first semester.

  • How-to Videos for International Students
This website provides many videos that help international students navigate the frequently used tools during their studies at UToledo. Students will have the opportunity to find answers to most of their questions just by navigating the How-To Videos Website.

Policy change for online courses!
The Coronavirus pandemic encouraged us to consider different ways to accommodate our enrolled international student population in the United States. As a result, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) temporarily allowed international students attending institutions implementing COVID-19 restrictions to enroll in more online classes than typically allowed by federal law. At this time, The University of Toledo has lifted most COVID-19 restrictions, and as a result of going back to normal operations, international students will also be required to return to pre-COVID enrollment requirements. The pre-COVID enrollment requirements are as follows: Students currently in F-1 and J-1 status (first semester, transfer, and continuing) are required to enroll in 9 credits (graduate students) or 12 credits (undergraduate students) to maintain F-1 status. UToledo students are also no longer allowed to count more than one online class toward a “full course of study” from the fall 2022 semester going forward. This means that an undergraduate student enrolled in a full course of study (12 credits) must enroll in 9 credits of face-to-face classes and graduate students enrolled in a full course of study (9 credits) must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits of face-to-face classes. This guidance will be in place for the foreseeable future.
