In the Spotlight!
Many of you know of University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI), the initiative housed within High School Articulation-Undergraduate Admissions at the UC Office of President. Initial funding for the UCCI initiative was administered by the California Department of Education, UC’s partner agency, from 2010 through June of 2019. Through UCCI's first program, the UCCI Institutes, staff members worked with high school academic and CTE teachers around California to develop 76 A-G-approved courses that contextualize academic work with career exploration. A second program, the UCCI Teacher Exchange Program, was developed in 2013 to help interested educators learn about and prepare to teach UCCI courses.

This summer, in partnership with Pajaro Valley Unified School District, UCCI hosted several UCCI Teacher Exchanges over Zoom that were focused on three of its science (D) biotechnology courses, The Technology of BiologyApplied Chemistry and Biotechnology and The Science and Ethics of Biotechnology. Course materials and resources, many of which have been updated, are available at the links below.

If you would like to learn more about a particular UCCI course or the courses in general, please let us know by completing our UCCI Interest Survey. We may be able to partner with you to host a Teacher Exchange, connect you with an experienced teacher of a UCCI course or deliver a training to help you better understand what UCCI is all about.

We want to hear from you!

The High School Articulation team wants to hear about innovative teaching and learning at California high schools, particularly in these three areas:

  1. Successes and challenges you’ve experienced as you work to give your students access to A-G courses. How have you made the A-G series more equitable in your school or district?

  2. Examples of how your institution is revising mathematics curricula in response to changing state policies and practices. What new courses or course sequences are you offering? What new practices are you implementing in response to statewide changes?

  3. Stories about the experience and impact of offering an ethnic studies curriculum in your school or district. How was the curriculum developed? How have students responded to the curriculum?

We are interested in hearing about any other innovative work happening on your campuses. Please share it!

Kindly take a few minutes to fill out our new High School Articulation Audience Survey and let us know about your work.

News & Updates

Supplementary submission phase starts August 1

The final submission phase of the current course submission period spans August 1 through August 31. During this time, A-G list managers may resume submitting course descriptions for A-G review. Please note that under our current guidelines new course submissions that were not approved by the end of the primary phase will not be eligible for resubmission during the supplementary phase. Courses submitted and subsequently not approved during the supplementary phase are likewise ineligible for resubmission.

If you still wish to see this course on your A-G list for 2022–23, you will need to begin a brand-new submission. The feedback is stil accessible via the original submission in the A-G Course Management Portal. You may also submit again during the 2023–24 course submission period and make the course retroactive to the 2022–23 academic year

FAQ of the month
The A-G Course Management Portal is asking me to update my accreditation information but this information is up to date in the system. I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do.

We have made some changes to how the request for updated accreditation information appears in the A-G CMP. The goal was to make it easier to understand whether or not you need to take action. Please see the screenshots and captions below for details.

Please note that if you click on the bell icon shown in the first image below and do not see the messages in images two and three, you do not need to take action.
A gold bell icon appearing in the upper right of your dashboard lets you know if you have pending notifications or action items that require your attention. The number inside the bell indicates how many notifications you have. One of the action items might be to update your accreditation information, if the end date on file for your school(s) has passed.
If you see a gold triangle in the accreditation portion of the notifications, that means the information we have on file for your school(s) is out of date. Click Update and follow the prompts to upload updated accreditation documents.
If you see a red circle with an exclamation point inside of it, that means your accreditation file was not accepted. The most common reason a file is not accepted is the accreditation agency listed in the documentation is not one of four regional agencies recognized by UC. Please review the A-G course list eligibility policy for more information.

Important dates and deadlines
