I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation . . . (Rom 1.16).

Construction at Cristo Redentor Church

Christ Kids and Cristo Redentor Church Construction

Watch a quick update on construction at Cristo Redentor Church. The shell is complete for the first floor but we have yet to install bathrooms, kitchen, and lighting. Nevertheless, the Christ Kids program is beginning in Parque Industrial! Approximately 20 children are awaiting sponsors. If you can help and are interested in sponsoring a child please click here.

12 year Anniversary of Cristo Rey

Praise be to God for Cristo Rey and her 12 years of ministry in Trujillo. Last month we celebrated with lunch at the church and a special program remembering what God has done among us and through us during these years.

We just recently ordained two new deacons, approved two new candidates for the ministry, and received several new members. Please pray for Pastor Esdras Vásquez along with the elders, deacons, and brethren. May God grant to Cristo Rey many more years of faithful gospel ministry in Trujillo and the north of Peru!

Our Team

Field Notes

Here are a few notes for prayer and thanksgiving:

  • We held our annual planning retreat on July 14-15 for leaders of churches and ministries. We prayed together, meditated on God’s Word, and gave thanks for all the ways He has blessed us. We also reviewed our long-term plan and spent many hours brainstorming about how to more effectively reach northern Peru for Christ. We are grateful for a unified, gifted, and faith-filled team! Please pray for our continued efforts as we prepare for 2023.

  • We are nearing completion of the first three modules of a new disciples training program that we hope to publish by year’s end. It’s designed to take church members from the basics of faith in Christ to becoming mature and fruitful witnesses in our city. Please pray for final editing of these volumes and for a good start to the remaining four.

  • Our presbytery is also working on a “Candidate’s Handbook” which will guide budding pastors through theological exams, readings, and a pastoral apprenticeship. The Lord is giving us a growing number of men who desire to be pastors. Pray that this will be a catalyst for preparing a greater number of men and ultimately more churches throughout Peru.

  • Wes visited the jungle city of Moyobamba this month and preached at “First Presbyterian.” This church is famous in Peru for many decades of faithful and fruitful Gospel ministry. In fact, in September they will celebrate their 100 year anniversary. Wes also spent time with the elders discussing opportunities for greater collaboration in pastoral training, Christian education, and church planting. Pray for the saints in Moyobamba, for their pastors and elders, and for greater partnership in the Gospel.

Thank you for your continued partnership with Peru Mission! May the Lord richly bless you, and may Christ continue to be exalted in Peru and among the nations!
