July 20, 2022

By the grace of God, we at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church are filled with the Holy Spirit and respond to God's love by sharing the Good News with our friends and neighbors. We go into our community and world to make a difference in the name of Jesus.

Food, Fellowship and Generosity

Recently, we gathered after worship for a salmon barbecue and potluck meal. It was a wonderful reminder of how intertwined faith and food are. Table fellowship is integral to the life and spirit of the church. We gather in the feast of the Lord’s Supper but also gather around salmon, coleslaw and homemade desserts. We eat together, laugh together and share stories about our lives. Relationships are built around tables—relationships with God, with each other and with the surrounding community.

Another opportunity for food, fellowship and generosity will take place next week. On July 28th from 5:30-7:30pm, we will host a “Pizza Pop-Up” fundraiser for the CAST program. CAST (Coffee and Sandwiches Together) prepares sandwiches at OSLC weekly and then shares them with people on the streets. I will make homemade pizza, and people are invited to come enjoy some slices and raise money for this important ministry. It is an opportunity for food, fun and generosity.

Finally, I am excited to announce that we hope to restart the Happy Valley Community Meal in September. This meal is a wonderful time to gather in fellowship, to be fed and to feed others who are hungry. Consider serving as a volunteer or just come and enjoy the food.

Hope to see you there!

Pastor Joel

This Sunday we are excited to formally welcome these new members: Rosaleen and Richard Dickinson, Mckenzie Goff, and Denise Ringhand. The Dickinsons come to us after many years living in Leavenworth, Wa. Mckenzie is a recent graduate of WWU and a current ministry coordinator for LCM-WWU. She is originally from Lacey, Wa. Denise is a life long Lutheran who currently splits time between Bellingham and Alaska. Stick around for the coffee hour and celebrate our new members.

  Matthew Wilkerson Preaching

We welcome Matt Wilkerson and his wife Sophy back to Bellingham this Sunday. Matt is a former LCM-WWU student and OSLC church council member. He has completed his academic work at Pacific Lutheran Seminary and will serve this next year as an intern Pastor in Everett. Matt will preach this Sunday and we will take a special offering to show our congregational support. Remember bring cash or your checkbook. Cards of support are great too!

Our new signs are installed!
A big thanks to the property management team for making it happen.
And to the Larson's for trimming the surrounding plants.
